More Idle issues
So I have had idle issues for 6 months now, and I have searched and tried everything I know to fix it. I am out of ideas now. I was hoping someone has an idea that I have missed. First the idle problem: On startup, with IAC connected, the car is hard to start but once it starts idle jumps to 2000 rp...

This site has a comprehensive list of junkyards throughout the US. I am not sure they are all U-Pull-Its.

I have never been to this one and I don't know if it is the one you are talking about but it looks big from google maps. A guy I work with went there and said it was big and they drive you to the section you want baja style! Strauss automotive in Dawson, PA http://www.straussautomotive.com/ I though...

I am sure a lot of thought has gone into the clutch, but I don't know if using an aluminum pressure plate is a good thing. The reason nodular iron is used is because it has a high specific heat capacity. Aluminum's is only about 2/3's of iron. Which on a part with little volume and the extreme heat ...

So the IAC has sorted itself out (for now). Idles right at 1000 rpm when plugged in. But my coolant reservoir is leaking around the metal housing for the cap. That is why it is running hot. Anybody have a good one I could buy? Or is there another car that has something similar I could make work? I r...

IAC signal
I am having a high idle problem with my car. I reset the base idle properly, and the car idles great with the IAC unplugged. The problem occurs when the car is at operating temperature and the IAC is plugged in, the idle stays at 1500-1750 rpm. I probed the IAC connector and it is getting a 13V sign...

I tested the starter relay on the fender. It clicked when I ran a + jumper to it, but the starter would not turn. I really think it is the starter, because it should turn fine out of the car. But when I put the ground cable on the starter body and the + cable on the starter lug, it does not do anyth...

Bad Starter?
My 88 XR would not start the other day. I even tried using a jumper box on the 200 amp start setting. I then ran through the tests in the manual and they lead to a bad starter. But I took the starter into AAP, and the solenoid kicked in and it spun on their tester. I took the starter home and tried ...

Automobile magazine Merkur article
This may have already been posted once, but I did not see it on the MerkurTech so I thought I would post it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4169241 Good article. I thought it was interesting that every fault they found is still the faults we deal with. I guess that is not too insightful, b...

This is a rather large undertaking but I would be able to help too. I can help with surfacing too. I have done a lot of it. I think making the models will be the easiest thing to do. It is getting accurate dimensions to make accurate models that will be the hard part. Getting the critical surfaces c...
