Re: Cheap spacer to eliminate vibration?

Steeda's spacer is 11/16" or 17mm. The haulsee adapter is close to an inch although I haven't measured it. Probably could have gotten a custom drive shaft for the price of my 'Stand DS and two adapters...

Re: Rear brake line.

I had these guys make me a line when overhauled my rear brakes. The tee fitting and brake lines were just too corroded to leave on the car as-is. I gave them the fittings and length I needed and they made me a line pretty quick. Wasn't expensive either. http://www.fedhillusa.com/ Awesome product. ht...

Re: Higher the boost, sooner it cuts...

So I've been limping around at 10 ibs. for what seems like ever and want to track down the culprit of this. At base boost, car will redline. 12 ibs and it cuts at 5k and 15 ibs cuts at 4k. -snip- I'm running the N/A spark plug wires due to lack of available turbo engine plugs. -snip- I'd get a righ...

Re: Won't build boost, chugs and misfires.

So fuel pump is suspect. If it is original then replace it. Easier said than done I know. Been there done that. Just don't let your nosy neighbor smoke while he helps you remove the tank assembly. I have also seen intermittent rough running issues from a brittle old injector harness. Would not...

Re: Cheap spacer to eliminate vibration?

It worked! The steeda spacer combined with the haulsee adapter and a 3" aluminum driveshaft is working just fine. I've tested up to 70 mph. No vibrations. I can even see out the rear view mirror. The trans bushing is new rubber stock type piece and allows minor flex. I was afraid to upgrade due...

Re: Won't build boost, chugs and misfires.

Still sounds like boost leak but my fairly stock XR had your symptoms with more than 10psi on less than 1/4 tank of gas when the intank pump started to go. Is there a way you can check fuel pressure? I borrowed the pro fuel gauge kit that hooks to the schrader valve from a shop and laid the guage on...

Re: Cheap spacer to eliminate vibration?

Teaser alert here. Been awhile I'm embarrassed to say but we moved. The Merkur did haul about half ton of parts and tools. One advantage to running 750lb springs! I just finished "modifying" the floor pan around the Steeda spacer where the driveshaft mounts in the rear. The rear flange dia...

Well since the question is good sites with rebuild kits I'd recommend Rock Auto. I can't speak to the kit quality as I paid to have mine rebuilt by a shop that listened to Esslinger. Sealed Power Kits ranging from $500 to $1000 (with pistons) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcod...

944 intercooler is pretty close to the sierra setup. The factory inlet is a bit kinked on a 45 degree. That may or may not be a good thing depending on your intake and turbo setup. I had Lindsay racing swap the straight side off a junk core for me for $75. There are units on ebay for $100. Here's a ...

It could be as simple as a bulb. The rear light bulb assemblies tend to corrode as well as the contact surfaces of the bulbs over time. There is a foam rubber gasket on the tail lights that leaks if left alone for 25 years or so. That combined with the onset of changing seasons would lead me to beli...

I just spotted a custom Ford Aerostar Van in town near our office. Wishing I had gotten a pic. Sorry for the tease but too funny. Think window deletes, ground effects and green metal flake paint. Pretty sure it had chrome wheels possibly wires. It may have been for sale. As for towing with a turbo. ...

2.3 Turbo Aerostar Article

I'd read up a bit on the Aerostar on wikipedia (noticed they had rear wheel drive a few weeks back). I'll give you the low-lights. Turns out 86-87 they offered the 2.3. They also offered manual transmissions and all-wheel drive. Crazy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Aerostar So today I figured I'...

Except for that being a d-port piece it looks like Stingers. I bought mine off ebay but I thought it was from ssautochrome. Anyway I've got it on my 86 XR. Not too many miles though as you might imagine since it is an XR. A dyno session and a couple thousand street miles. I didn't wrap it or change ...

Bought an STi sway bar off ebay today for $50 shipped. I don't autox often and even less in my XR. I have no back to back data. For my STi, the difference at speed (60+) with and without a working sway bar is significant. I think under those speeds turn in is probably better which would lend to park...
