I live in Sugar land, near Houston. But I also spend time in Wimberley, out near you. the merk hasn't been there in many, many years. I may drive it out there this spring.

Re: need a good inertia switch
I know how the moisture got it. At some point it sat in the driveway for about a year as I did stuff with the new house. I have a lower spoiler from another car on it with my cosworth upper. There were two holes in the trunklid for the wiper arm and I guess the third brake light wire exit hole. They...

Re: need a good inertia switch
Noah did me a solid and sent me one. Thanks so much Noah, I appreciate it. Mine was literally a ball of rust when I broke it open. Car started right up after that.

need a good inertia switch
Starting the XR after a long hiatus and it looks like my inertia switch in the trunk has gone bad. Looking for one in good shape. Let me know.

Re: Greets + Looking for any info on this old AWIC on my XR
That is a cartech intercooler that was made by a company called CarTech in Dallas, probably around 1990. I bought one from them. Its kind of what got me going down the air water intercooler route. I met the carTech dudes in person in Dallas and talked with them a while. It's design was kind of a com...

I should have been more specific it's the rear passenger footwell and the trunk I had to put some buckets in the car to catch the rain dripping from the roof

:haha that was actually pretty damn funny, ed. I live about a half mile from the Brazos river, and if it wasn't for our levy, we would have had about 3 feet in my house. High and dry again for us. My merk had about 5" in The rear footwell and spare tire well, tho. I think bad sunroof seals.

Finally getting rid of those nasty, rusty relics, .. drum br
My Merk sat outside for two years, awaiting its temple. Now its complete, and when I went to drive the car into the garage (after Mike Oyler helped me get a key made) the rear drums had seized up on me. I had to really drag race launch my car to break the friction loose in the rear, and it sounded l...

Free 14" BBS rim
I still have one of the BBS rims that came on my 1985 XR when I bought it used in the early 1990's. It had these schweet 14" forged aluminum BBS rims on it, one of which I broke on a giant pothole. I replaced them with some 15" Fitipaldis. I have no idea how common these rims were. In any ...

Re: I was wondering if any of you would be interested in thi
I don't intend to hijack this thread, but would like to offer up a partially built project. I was literally going thru some boxes in my garage just now, in preparation for getting my XR into the garage of my new house. I have a bunch of built, and partially built aluminum coolant tanks that I had do...

Re: Turbo Turbine housing bolts...
I have sheared off those bolt heads, and then later removed them from the housing. A giant vice grip could either loosen that bolt, or shear it off. Once they are all either removed or broken, Remove the housing then, drill and tap the softened bolts. Those bolts get heat cycled so many times, there...

Need advice on ignition lock and door locks
So.... I bought a new house two years ago. I have been preparing a temple for my car, but the car has literally been in the driveway, unmoved for two years. We had 9.5" of rain one day a couple weeks ago. I know that the wiper motor does not seal well to the hatch sheetmetal, as I run a ...
