I think Joe Smith (overcrest motorsports) has one for sale in Arkansas, I believe he's located in Siloam Springs?

Re: Ford Recalls Focus
I received my recall notice tuesday for my 2013 st and Ford stated that the issue was a bad canister purge valve. According to the letter they stick and cause an increased vacuum in the system that can actually deform the tank and cause the gauge to read erroneously. I had this happen to me after i ...

Re: Ground control coil over kit
I recently put a ground control kit on mine and they're better quality than I was expecting in all honesty. I have heard that MK1 focus fronts work on our cars with some minor modifications.

Re: How did you intercool
My car has an older version of the Merkur Depot setup on it, it has a short radiator with an IC mounted above the radiator similar to the European cars, it's packaged pretty neatly so it doesn't go anywhere near the condensor for the AC.

Re: On the hunt
I agree with the folks above who say that that price for any car that runs and drives is pretty decent. They aren't difficult to work on, fun to drive, and are really good at drawing attention since most people have no idea what they're looking at. Parts availability isn't terrible either, but depen...

Re: On the hunt
If this is any help, I purchased my 88 that was in pretty good shape, manual trans, sunroof and leather interior with roughly 84k (or 184k, or 984k miles, who knows) on the clock about a year ago for $3000. It's fairly straight with no rust. It's hard to trust BAT honestly, especially since these we...

I see that you specify non-st front calipers, have you tried this with st calipers? Might be able to get some use out of the ones i took off my car when the rs brakes went on...

Re: Expansion tank replacement?
The lower fitting does make more sense, being continuously submerged and closer to the heat source. Mine just happened to spring a leak at the neck of the filler/cap. I might give the scorpio tank a try.

Re: Expansion tank replacement?
I have been looking on the merkur midwest website, the scorpio tank actually caught my eye being that it wasn't the unholy fusion of metal and plastic. I'm not extremely cheap, but I am skeptical of buying any 30 year old plastic parts that have been heat cycled.

Re: Expansion tank replacement?
The portion of the plastic and metal sleeve that holds the radiator cap has started cracking, the tank won't hold pressure and starts bleeding off pressure (and antifreeze) after it's been taken up to operating temperature. I tried patching it back together last year with some epoxy but it didn't la...

Expansion tank replacement?
It's spring time, so i've been looking at the Merkur again, one item I never got around to fixing last year was the expansion tank bleeding off pressure. I was curious as to what is everybody using for their expansion tank? I have an older merkurdepot radiator/ic setup if that matters.

Re: Greetings - New Member here
I do not, the previous owner of your car is really the only other Merkur guy I've met in Oklahoma. It would be nice to find somebody that is somewhat local and possibly has a trove of parts for these things, I'd love to get a bi-plane spoiler/hatch and some interior parts. It might be worthwhile to ...

Re: Greetings - New Member here
Another Oklahoma Merkur? Welcome! If the parts car is the one from Collinsville then I'd be interested in the front grille if you wanted to part with it. I met the previous owner of that car at mid america last year and almost bought that one as a parts car after it got side swiped.

Re: Took the plunge, now tracking down a vacuum leak
I know this may seem obvious, but I did have the vacuum cap on the intake manifold on my car being basically dry rotted through and causing an idle issue.
