Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
9 degree indeed also sounds familiar as being the max that was possible. I don't really understand what you mean with " It's much easier to just throw a couple holes 80mm apart on some steel and build off of that... " The work needed to be done to make a 6 or 7.5 degree beam is the same, i...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
The semi-trailing arm rear suspension is quite an old design and not used anymore. Throughout the history quite a lot of rear wheel drive cars have had such a rear suspension. But I think that over time the sweep angle was made smaller on most cars. Some numbers I have found: 20° - BMW e12 5 series ...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
They are definately spherical, both the original ones and the Graham Goode ones. The angle that the bearings can make is not very big, but it is big enough for the application. The movement of the arms is without any binding in the bearings through the whole suspension travel. The Sierra was indeed ...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
They are sort of stock bushings for a Cosworth, which actually uses a spherical bearing as standard. The original Ford ones are no longer available though, but Graham Goode Racing in the UK remanufacters them. https://shop.grahamgoode.com/rear-trailing-arm-outer-bush-sierra-escort-cosworth-2wd-4x4-g...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
The sweep angle of the rear arms is changed from the standard 18 degrees to 6 degrees. As a result the camber and toe change under compression and droop is much less. The rear camber change on a Sierra is quite a lot and reduces traction in a straight line. The toe change on the rear pushes the car ...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
I have an adjustable 6 degree beam on both my Sierra’s. The toe is not adjustable on mine though.

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
Marc. Thats one problem.. what about your toe? Since that also goes to hell om normal Sierra when lowered.. The toe angle needs to be very accurate to have good handling and tyre wear, much more than the camber angle. I'm not sure what the Scorpio trailing arms do on a Sierra for the toe. But best ...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?
The mounting surface for the bearing carrier is at a different angle for the Scorpio than for the Sierra due to the higher ride height of the Scorpio. So the trailing arms of a Scorpio will give more negative camber on a Sierra. I’ve had them on for years.

Re: Sierra Cossie headlights in a Scorpio?
Mike, are those the same as used in the RS Cosworth (Sapphire) 4-door? I won't swear to it but I believe the base model Sierra Mk2 hatchback headlights are different than the Mk2 4-door. They look taller to me. Not sure if its an illusion or a delusion. The mk2 hatchback and mk2 4-door have exactly...

Re: XR4ST
Thanks for replying, some people wouldn't like any comments that could be regarded as negative. But it's good to hear that you thought about these things and know the spring rates. The original rear spring is mounted much higher, so has much more travel. Normally the bump stop is mounted at the poin...

Re: XR4ST
Nice to see someone thinking outside of the box. :D But I do have to say that a few things don't really seem like a great idea to me... The rear springs don't have much travel and will probably coil bind which you don't want. Apart from that it also seems like they could pop out quite easily....

Re: Front Brake Rotors...Do any other ford rotors fit?
You’re right on the distance, I’ve just checked the 2wd cosworth ones and they are also 90 mm. Someone told me they were 89 mm. But still there is a big difference in 2wd cosworth and the others. The 2wd cosworth has the thread in the hubs while all others have it in the calipers. So you still can’t...

Re: My Sierra saloon
Together with the aircon kit I got the metal "box" that is normally fitted to the bulkhead. It's welded to the bulkhead on the holes where I drilled out the spot welds. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/metallifan/DSC01459.jpg The vaporizer also needed two brackets on the bulkhead. Un...
