Re: Hagarty Merkur Article published

Thanks for posting, Paul. Way to represent Merkur and the Garden State. Love the action shots from the Glen. :cheers In 2011, Hagerty put the XR4ti on the "endangered" list, saying they insured fewer than 25 examples. I wonder if that has changed over the past 8 years? With the comments here re: val...

Re: Hagerty: 7 classics under $10K that you should snatch up

I don't know if any XR exists that gets exclusively hauled around. "Minty" original and restored cars will probably have to do. $5900 won't buy one of those either. Exactly, it could be $20,000, because there is probably no such thing. Maybe the Henry Ford Museum has one in the basement, but its ti...

Re: Hagerty: 7 classics under $10K that you should snatch up

The board may want to get them cheap but I think that on the larger open market the very few Condition #1 cars in existence are going to do better than $5900. The last really good, absolute no excuses XR I saw on Ebay blew past that number in the blink of an eye. A lot of the stuff that comes up fo...

Re: New Guy in MA

Thanks guys, we'll have to see if there are any events next season we can hit as a group. Could be cool to get a few of these cars together in the same place.

Re: Spoke to the Original Owner of my XR4Ti Yesterday

I've run into my car's previous owner several times at car shows. Nice fella... he says the car's been kicked up a notch or two since he owned it. He's got a T-Bird now. That's cool, he must get a kick of seeing the car so well preserved. Funny that both our OOs drive later model T Birds now. We vo...

Re: just another day and rare k2/xr4ti find

My dad was determined to daily drive his XR back in the day, and ran 4 studded snows in the winter. At least the Lotus was mid-engined.

Spoke to the Original Owner of my XR4Ti Yesterday

I had his name from the warranty card, and (luckily) I have every receipt and scrap of paper associated with my car's history, so I just dialed him up at his home in NJ. Interesting conversation, he was happy to hear the car has been lovingly cared for since he sold it in '96, and that it still look...

Thanks Mark. Once the '69 heads to a new home, it will open up garage space for the XR to move in here & get some proper lovin', LOL.

Now I know how my buddy felt when he was selling the XR. A lot of mixed emotions, that's for sure.

1969 Cougar XR-7 “R Code” convertible at the Russo & Steele Auction - Scottsdale 1/18 or 1/19 - NO RESERVE

After 32 year of ownership, I have decided to consign the "R Code" to the Russo & Steele auction this January in Scottsdale. While lot numbers/auction times have not yet been assigned (R&S assigns them somewhat last minute based on the mix of cars, etc.), I expect the car will cross the block AT NO ...

Re: Rit dye for carpet

Watching this one, as I have to dye my used package tray & NOS floor mats (both gray) Raven. Open to trading for Raven pieces, if they exist.

My original package tray has been modified for 6x9 speakers. :puke
