Re: TRS Write Up on 2.9 Porting
I don't think you will get much unless you fit larger valves. A while back there was a guy selling over sized valves on ebay. He has some flow bench numbers that were interesting. None the less if I were doing an engine rebuild I would do a "cleanup" on the intake ports and focus on the v...

TRS Write Up on 2.9 Porting
Hey, figured this may help over here for those seeking performance out of a Scorpio. As part of my 2.9 FI build, I had to figure out how to port the heads. This is a post I'm working on that is to be come a tech section info page on porting 2.9 heads. I wound cutting up a cracked 2.9 head and taking...

Nope, not on here. They're over at the Ranger Station. Feel free to make requests on here if there's angles you'd want to see.

Re: Merkur Scorpio vs. Sierra/Capri/Granada 2.9 12v intakes
Funny you mention cam, that's the decision I'm making right now. I'm down between a custom grind from Camcraft at either 206/210 or 210/214 OR to just run a Sierra 'fast road' cam. Either one of these will be run with Cologne 2.6 solid lifters (both cams are set up for them). Melling high volume oil...

Merkur Scorpio vs. Sierra/Capri/Granada 2.9 12v intakes
Hey all, Ranger guy back again. Posted this over at TRS. Will link this page to that post as well. Guessing ya'll will have some input on this versus the Ranger guys that rarely mess with the 2.9. https://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php?threads/differences-in-2-9-twin-throttle-body-intakes...

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
Should be near the front of the block around the timing cover. Curious if the high compression block ever made it into the USA. Nor sure if it did, but I know very little about Merkur. Reference: http://www.ford-ig-wriedel.de/technik/v6_motoren_s2.htm Heads have the casting number on the side. 86tm ...

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
The opening (hole) on the underside of the left (main) TB bore in your photo is for the EGR tube. You'd need to make a block-off plate if you don't run the Scorpio EGR. YMMV Awesome, figured it was EGR. Should be easy to block off or turn into a vac port. Running Megasquirt, so no EGR (88 ranger 2....

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
Can anyone out there at least take a photo of the two areas? I cannot find one, and I really don't want to buy an entire parts car for a bracket and plate...
With a photo I can fabricate them.

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
Paul West (on here) has this available until next week. Make him a low ball offer before it hits the dumpster. Screenshot_20190529-122616_Facebook-432x888.jpg Ah, thats a shame its just a short block - I have a spare 1990 Ranger one that is in need of heads (go figure), and my current intake that n...

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
I don't know what you are expecting to get out of this. There is little advantage to be gained. I guess first and foremost is that the Ranger is mass air flow and the Scorpio is speed density. So somehow you have to run through your stock single port mass airflow sensor and then split into the dual...

Re: Replacement Head Options
The newly made ITM heads appear to have square pedestals. Like the ones shown above, on the right? Or an entirely different casting? Been meaning to post this for a while, but if you do upgrade from the 86TM to 89TM heads, be sure to get the correct rocker shaft assemblies. The heads on my 2.9 are ...

Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions
Hey all, thanks to a deal on parts made with a forum member over at The Ranger Station, I have a Sierra / Scorpio dual throttle body intake ready to be put on my 1988 Ranger. I received the setup as a bare throttle body and pleInum, and have so far tracked down intake bolts, gasket washers for the b...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade
The Scorpio is not serpentine....and the mounting of the 3g just won't work in the Scorpio without major surgery. But as we anticipated, the extra amps is worth the effort. I'm ready to pull the trigger on the '04 Titan alternator swap, just waiting for a good deal on ebay. Gotcha. As far as serpen...
