It's been a while since I've had a t9 apart so maybe someone can shed some light on this. I acquired an auto car with a swapped in t9 with a short shifter. In shifting to fifth there is nothing there, goes to the point and stays but nothing happens, no crunch, no grind, like I shifted into neutral. ...

TFI? I didn't have trouble for years and then mine quit. I found on replacement that the grease was so old that it was kind of chalky, I wasn't careful cleaning the engine bay about half of it had washed off.
