OTOH, if I do that then I gotta replace the motor mounts at the same time as, man, it would not get easier to do that job than with the transmission gone. :)
Motor mounts are fairly easy with just a floor jack and a pair of jackstands... you can do them anytime.

Re: Why are new cars so expensive?

Ford takes it seriously: https://www.autonews.com/commentary/hacketts-remedy-sticker-shock YMMV Interesting read-- I hope he means it. Case in point: I might have used my car's CD player once or twice, in five years and 60,000 miles. I have never once used the navigation feature (I guess I know whe...

Were he still breathing Gresham likely would postulate his Second Law: Bad grammar drives out good grammar.

YMMV
An excellent analogy. :headbang
As Gresham has indeed shucked his mortal coil, why not claim it?

Re: Why are new cars so expensive?

Follow-up question: Why do they depreciate so quickly, since so much money goes into their design, manufacture, safety equipment, etc? :dunno I take advantage of this "market correction". Why buy a new mid level milquetoast mass market sedan when you can buy something that someone paid $60K+ for ne...

Re: New Shorty Aluminum XR Radiators in Stock!

I did this to my '89 (custom one-off by Mike, before the current '89-spec rads were available, thank you very much) to put a Porsche 944T IC in the bottom by having the mounting tabs moved down, and it worked well. One cool thing is that your stock '89 hose with the vent is retained in the correct p...

Re: Apostrophe Society Shuts Down...

"Idiocracy" is here. What people fail to understand is that language is the basis of any functioning society, and although it's true that English is rife with irregularities and such which make its complete mastery difficult, functional levels are not difficult to achieve, and without effective comm...

That's the beauty of this Forum, vs., say, Facebook... I frequent both, but we should never forget where the real, searchable library and repository of facts is to be found!

If it turns out they're smaller, people have fitted sleeves, which I believe is discussed in the referenced thread (or others).

Random thought: how's the clearance for the shaft at the rear brake line mounting tabs? Understand those need to be trimmed to allow the DS to clear.

I always used a dry graphite lube, seemed to work well for me. But as Ed said, look at some lubricants designed for this purpose.
