Re: Anyone DD theirs?

You've already taken care of the problem, by adding the ground... Ah, got it! I misunderstood!🍻 The weaker and more common failure prone section(s) is inside the harness connector. That happened to me in 50% of the XR's I had for a long time. The ground issue, 100% (won't count the one I got new an...

Re: XR4Ti Purchase

I run R12 in 3 Merks. Duracool refrigerant works very well per Merkur2.3Turbo here. You can still get R12 here in AZ (can't imagine why... ), and although it's more expensive than it should be, it isn't prohibitively so, especially when compared to changing over to, say, R134 and having it wo...

Re: Car Wash Under Carriage Spraying

Right, the part in the illustration actually splits air between the radiator below, and the IC above it. Of course, it wouldn't work with the stock A/C condenser; you'd have to get an aftermarket, shorter one (not a bad idea, anyway, if you run A/C). The tray I was designing would run from the botto...

Re: Car Wash Under Carriage Spraying

Meanwhile I drive a car 5 times its value every season happily :withstupid Five times its market value, very likely... I once made a cardboard template for an aluminum engine undertray I never got around to bending up. To my thinking, besides protection, it would serve as a superior way to funnel a...

Re: Is there a quick fix for the Lower Radiator Hose?

I'm finally getting around to tackling some major maintenance for my 1985 XR this weekend. Here's a new 1985-1988 lower radiator hose: http://merkur.50megs.com/catalog_2.html Also available in red: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Merkur-XR4Ti-Silicone-Lower-Radiator-Hose-Coolant-1985-1986-1987-1988/20...

Re: FS: scorp brake adapters, fg cossie vents, misc

How does one mount these vents? I am just looking at them here and I don't see any underlying anchor points or frame work to fully understand the mounting process... Also, John... would you happen to have a spec sheet on the proper location of the vents? (Not bidding on these, just more curious) My...

See if you can't get the full workshop manual on pdf. When you are doing all those tune-up steps also clean out the IACV. Just spray carb cleaner into it until the runoff is clear.
If you still have the fold-up instructions on the underside of the hood, it tells you how to set the idle.

Hard to find? All they need to do is post up a "WTB XR have 2400 cash" post on like the best website ever! That's right! :cheers About time someone like Hagerty came around. We're on our way to no longer being the Rodney Dangerfields of the collector world!! Now about that valuation tool. $5900 for...

Ah is that why everyone switches to the later valve cover?
Everyone doesn't, but it is an improved design. In addition to the improved breather, you get a screw-on oil cap as well. Many prefer the looks of the earlier style.

Re: just another day and rare k2/xr4ti find

Ever try this trick when turning corners in the snow and ice? As you approach the corner, lock the wheels, Turn the steering wheel; car keeps tracking straight ahead. When you reach your turn-in point, release the brakes-- the front wheels turn, grip, and the car turns the corner. Fun!
