Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Re temp gauge reading: I'd install a new (Motorcraft) T-stat and observe if the reading holds at a lower level.

Re: Motor mounts + Timing Belt + valve cover compatibility

Not a PITA job. First time, yeah (I've done it 4-5 times). But nothing complex is involved.

Re: Motor mounts + Timing Belt + valve cover compatibility

I installed one of the two new Motorcraft breather grommets, I bought at a dealership, several.years ago now, It still nicely snugs up the VC breather tube.

The new Rapido isolators look outwardly identical to my OEM Ford units; no idea re what they are composed of.

Re: Motor mounts + Timing Belt + valve cover compatibility

Motor mounts: what I've seen on one is the stud center portion separated from the outer body; that's not apparent from side views. I installed a set of Rapido's new gel-filled isolators (~$220+) seeking to quell an irritating metallic vibration (found the source of it later, unrelated to isolators)....

True. Seems to be working well and I get a consistent MAP signal at the ECU.
You are running a MAP rather than a BAP?

The correct size fan clutch wrench is 36 mm.

Maybe I misspoke (from memory). I'll measure mine and post what it is in mm shortly.

Re: 5.0L XR Not Passing Smog... Solved

Re the timing setting and higher NOX at 25 mph, wonder if a degraded PIP signal or equivalent could result in the ECU advancing timing above the mapped parameters.

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle

Time for an update. What have you found or/and done? Issue still randomly occurs, or haven't driven it much? With only a tad of facetiousness the link below is to a Radiolab podcast on how a gamma ray hitting a computer can alter a command signal (last ~15 minutes focuses on autos, especially sudden...

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Re the fan clutch, with the right size nut removal tool (~$12 Ebay) and your own 13 mm closed end wrench, removal is a snap. Install a new one and sleep and drive worry free for 50-70K miles, and then install another new clutch.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Newer model temp gauges may be designed differently by different companies. Newer model temp gauges may operate over different signal response horizons.

Re: Sleeping Beauty .. Parked at 2002 ... where should I start?!

First step: get it to start, run, stop dependably and reliably.

Second step: test first step until high confidence that dependability and reliability are demonstrated.

Third step: don't touch anything else, intead just drive and enjoy it.

If that MooseThang injun were mine I'd remove and thoroughly clean its EGR valve (cf Taylor's post above).
