Re: Where to purchase a trans mount for my XR4Ti

Does Rapido even exist any more ?
The website seems to be down.

Where to purchase a trans mount for my XR4Ti

This car actually has a A4LD transmission from a Scorpio.
I think the mount I have is too soft as I can easily push the rear of the transmission up and down by hand.

Re: does anyone have a good (Ranger) timing cover ?

With it set up the simple way like I did and the ranger, the bypass for coolant flow with the thermostat closed is through the heater core.
I actually prefer this as the heater gets a flush every time you start the car.

Re: does anyone have a good (Ranger) timing cover ?

I used a ranger lower intake manifold that did not have the hose fitting.

I believe you can purchase a 5.8" rubber cap for your nipple as well.

I hope this helps.
I just have 2 heater hoses.
one from intake behind T-stat housing to heater core and one from water pump to heater core.

The bypass hose just simply does not exist any more.

Re: Grill gasket / seal

Here are the hood supports. Nice to get rid of that silly prop rod. I bought this as a kit off of ebay years ago (I still had the 4 cyl engine installed then). https://i.imgur.com/DznqrMK.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ttnwImO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MGqbXws.jpg Another thing I did was extend the front sun...

Re: Grill gasket / seal

The rear windows have power actuators from a dodge caravan. They are wired into the 4 way power window switch. The center button in the window switch pops the rear hatch. That is possi le due to the Scorpio rear latch release being used. It can also be released via the remote start trunk release but...

Re: Grill gasket / seal

Yes, I installed the Scorpio Trans as well.
Since the 85 XR is a narrow tunnel car there was some trimming and hammering involved to fit it in.
It does fit but with very little space to spare.

I have messaged Rapido but have not heard back.

Re: does anyone have a good timing cover ?

Here is the engine installed with the Ranger front cover installed and heater bypass removed. Just 2 rad hoses and 2 heater hoses (except for the coolant bottle that has a hose running to the bottom of the rad and 2 little hoses for vents connected to the top of the rad and to the thermostat housing...

Re: Grill gasket / seal

Thank you, I did all the work and have been driving this car all summer to work for several years. Car was purchased as a $500.00 as is special then completely redone from the ground up. One of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. The V6 with the 4 speed auto makes for a nice daily driver. Leat...

Re: does anyone have a good timing cover ?

I did indeed use a Ranger cover and got rid of the bypass hose.

Car cools well and heater works well.

I don't know why Ford used two different setups with the same engine.

Grill gasket / seal

My seal has started to come apart on my 1985 XR4Ti. It was replaced when the car was repainted a few years ago but needs another one. Does anyone know a source for this. This is the car. Sorry I don't have a closeup of the bad gasket. https://i.imgur.com/Km5guPh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Rm7gtab.jpg h...
