Re: florida merkur owners

BTW, there is an excellent (serious!) karting track local called Andersen Racepark. They have a full schedule of events and have rentals, offer licensing, etc. Something to consider if you're looking for a racing fix until you have time to make it to an auto-x or track day.

Re: florida merkur owners

Hey guys, I'm thinking of moving to to the Sarasota area for at least half the year(jan-jun). Are there any track or autox events local to the area? It seems any major track is at least two hours away. drivefast.org events are almost 2 hours away on the north side of tampa. Doesn't seem like rallyx...

Re: focus recaro seats

In the STs, you had the ST1 - ST2 - ST3 packages. All seats were Recaro made. The difference was whether or not they were skinned in leather and had the ability to be heated (ST3). Actually, ST1 do not get Recaros in the US. They are the same as the Focus sport/Platinum seats in an ST specific clot...

Re: XR4Ti Change Delineation Thread

Is there any resource that has a breakdown of XR or Scorpio production based on exterior color/interior color combinations? Is there a resource for original build sheets or invoices (like the Eminger invoices for classic Mustangs)? I wonder if either Karmann or Ford might still have those...

I'd be interested in a set if they're available. PM if they are; I'm not on here very often anymore.

I'm down in Sarasota too... about half a mile from BAT, though I've bought more stuff from blugg over the years.

Hey, I'm down in Sarasota and might be letting a set of wheels go soon... I'll post when I decide (soon-ish).

Re: Any Xr4ti owners in Tampa Bay Area

I'm still down here in Sarasota, though the XR has been sitting for WAY TO F*@#ing long (ever since I got the Focus ST).

BTW @John Lambert, whatever happened to the Type-X'd Contour project? Always thought that would've been a great rallycross car.

Re: any merkur mechanics in orlando?

This is a bit old now, but I wonder if you made any progress. If not, I figure you've got a couple choices: take the existing crank and rods to a machine shop and see if they can be machined to be legit again. If not, you should be able to locate a short block (or complete engine) fairly easily loca...

Re: Hey people new on the forum

Much delayed, but welcome to the forum Rob! I'm just up in Sarasota. There aren't a ton of us in this area, but a few for sure, and BAT is local to Sarasota, so you might keep them in mind if you're looking for parts or whatever. Drop me a line some time and maybe we can get the few of us in the are...

Re: My '89 XR4Ti thread

First, awesome thread! I love all the content and detail... no bs and fluff like I find in so many threads. Keep up the good work! Second, that damn VAM is absolutely horrible once you start modifying these cars. First time I went to the dyno (Mustang dyno), it made a corrected 140hp/154tq on 17psi ...

Re: Coilover Options

I'm generally in agreement about preferring fixed rate dampers. The only exception is if there is a significant change in the kind of surface I'll be driving on (i.e. going from tarmac to gravel/dirt). And really, at that point, it's probably better to have yet another set of springs and dampers for...

Re: Coilover Options

JVAB has a rear conversion, but they ain't cheap. Front and rears are like $1850, but they are full competition spec. They are height adjustable, but valving is fixed, custom spec'd to your needs.
