Re: Oil pan removal.

The manual does say to support engine from above. I was primarily letting readers know the manual says 2" drop and the cautionary note of rear bearing cap gasket material. I pulled my complete engine from top, so I don't know the accuracy of the 2" spec. The more I reflect on the time under my Scorp...

Re: Oil pan removal.

Per the Workshop Manual - you only have to drop the crossmember 2"
However, when removing the oil pan gasket, there are wedges in a sealing groove of the rear main bearing cap. You might have to remove the bearing cap to remove any remaining gasket material.

Good luck

Re: How to Open a Scorpio Hood if the Cable Snaps

Now that members can post images directly in a post, here's a pic of the lever you're trying to move. Scorpio Hood Latch ø.jpg In summary: a plastic grommet holds the cable in a hook in the body.. The grommet either breaks or pops out of the hook preventing sufficient pressure on the lever to releas...

John
You mention cleaning the TB. Are you sure the connection of EGR pipe to TB is not leaking? I've also had a very thin crack in the small vac hose that connects to the EGR.

Re: Antenna Options

Out of curosity, I searched most of the forums and it appears VW is the popular one, however someone used a FUBA. And to note, there are wiring issues to the hatch and the antenna in defrost grid has it's share of complaints.

Re: Mr. Hyde... Sudden Rough Running 2.9L?

Use a vac source with gauge and manually pull vac on the EGR. Test eng off and running, I think manual tells correct psi.

I replaced the power switch [no light] with an illuminated window switch. Now much easier to find the switch at night.

Re: Hello from Holland

Hi Marc,

Sierra, Cosworth, Granada - whatever their formal Ford name - they're cut from the same mold and their owners are always welcome. Many MCA members are very curious and few looking for pars from non-US spec Fords as well as for the few non-US spec ones that have been imported.

Re: Replacement relays

Welcome to the club. The previous owner definitely didn't know what they were doing with the Scorpio electricals. God only knows what they were thinking when they butchered your fuse/relay box and what other electricals they butchered. Scorpios rarely have electrical issues. Because I'm on vacation,...
