Re: Dr. Jekyll... rough running 2.9
Joe The condition of the fusible link wires is a definite signal to pull apart the fuel injection [FI] harness. I soldered mine together covered with shrink wrap & electrical tape. I seriously suspect some bad wiring in FI harness. It has another 2 to 1 splice in it. One of the wires goes under ...

Re: Dr. Jekyll... rough running 2.9
I’m posting this in MCA Scorpio forum because I know our more knowledgeable members will respond with corrections to my comments. I’ve had a “few” electrical issues with one of my Scorpios and the group has helped me find the correct path. I read your comments and the members’ responses. Here are my...

If you're going to use bar's leak or any other similar stuff, I suggest you disconnect / bypass the heater core.

If I remember correctly; Mark told me it's better to add as a new user and keep the old user name to maintain access to all their old posts. My memory may be faulty.

Re: Disappearing coolant is normal - really?
Thanks for the replies. In hindsight; because I've always had older cars, they all had at least old hoses that invariably needed a hose replaced, so coolant top off was required, but not from evaporation. Now that my daughters and Colette are driving 2019, 2020 and 2009 cars I'll have to add "c...

Disappearing coolant is normal - really?
Having driven Merkurs for years, this is normal especially from old leaking hose connections or at worst a water pump. But from a 2019 Volvo XC40 less than 50k miles? Low coolant icon illuminates. Checked reservoir shows it’s ≈ 1/3 low. Water pump, hose leak? Nada, pressure tested etc. Maniac says i...

Ripperoni XR Build
Give Michielle some credit. She’s designing, cutting & welding what 90% of Merkur owners would never consider doing [me included]. She obviously has experience in modifying cars and has the guts to video publish her progress. She probably appreciates constructive criticism, helpful suggestions a...

Re: XR coolant hoses
To best of my knowledge, BAT no longer has Merkur parts. Here's their link https://www.batinc.net/ MCA Sponsors with 30+ years providing correct info & parts: You can contact (in no particular order) Jeff Herson at http://merkurmidwest.com/, Mike Oyler at http://www.merkur.50megs.com/ or Russ Ha...
