Re: So, that XR4Ti on BaT.

Ha! Which leads to the difficult decision... you put all that time and effort into building a really nice street/potential-track car, then you're scared to waste all that by spinning out or rolling over in a basic HPD track day. You don't want to make a full-on commitment to being a track car, but y...

Re: So, that XR4Ti on BaT.

Yeah, I'm not sure why. I've seen a few arrangements like that for different NASA/SCCA classes, but I presume it's because there's nowhere else to brace the roll hoop to... All the pics I've saved of "serious" (FIA, BTCC, Eggenberger, Rouse, Dick Johnson/Australian Series, etc., etc.) of R...

Re: No power, shuddering under load

Are the parts store remanufactured distributors and vams sketchy? Here Ya' go... ideas galore on the subject LOL! : http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=38784 Personally, I'd ask Jeff (Blugg @ Merkur Midwest) or Mike ( Merkur Depot)what they have used or new in stock first.

Re: No power, shuddering under load

The PIP is the stator inside the distributor. Get a new, or NOS Motorcraft one. You'll have to punch out the pin to remove the distributor gear in order to pull the shaft out. Nice to have a real hydraulic press to pull/push the gear off and on the shaft, but you can do it without one if you have th...

Re: So, that XR4Ti on BaT.

Not to nitpick a pretty well done car, nor hi-jack the thread, but since NASA/SCCA cages was mentioned, what's up with so many "styles" of cages like this which terminate the rearward strut bars on the wheel wells? Granted, it's two layers of sheetmetal for noise and corrosion, and it is a...

Re: Electric Power steering <Toyota MR2 Pump>

Color me ignorant, and late to this class... we're not talking conversion to "fly by wire" here, right? It's just a means of eliminating weight and lubrication fluids? Or, is there something special about these EPAS that enhance driving feedback. AFAIK, the only ones which have managed to ...

Re: For Sale barely restorable 1986 5 speed

Sounds like a deal. When you write, "barely restorable," I'm hoping you mean that the paint is so faded or thin in spots that the whole thing is almost down to bare metal, which would save a lot of time not having to strip off the original paint and primer. A little rust-through in critica...

Hmm... Sameguy, you're stirring the pot, then sitting back and waiting for all the ensuing excitement, right? :D I for one hope the buyer really enjoys driving it!!! Nicely done car.

Re: Windshield Group Buy

taylor Make sure your use the correct mounting tape for mirror bracket to windshield. Glass & bracket expand & contract at different rates that is the main cause of cracked windshield at mirror. Wish I had known about that. Found that out the hard way, after a Safelite or such installer rep...

Curiouser and curioser... if its not an obstruction, and everything's stock, and it's not the fuel nozzles, then I have no clue. Not worried, though, been called/described worse than that. :D

Re: Here's a new one... car cannot be fueled!

How about trying one of those flexible inspection cameras? Tell the wife it's for use around the home (like if something falls under the refrigerator) and then use it on the cars when she is away. 8) My neighbor, who is a Civil Engineer, gave me his old one about 10 years ago. He used it to check c...

Re: Here's a new one... car cannot be fueled!

I think Ed might be onto something... if the tank and fill-pipe are that new, and the fill-pipe is aftermarket, then maybe it doesn't have (or has inadequately sized) pressure-evac holes. Stupid question, does it just not allow the nozzle to pump, or does it fill slightly and then stop? The latter p...

Re: 1989 Scorpio - Puyallup, WA

Would love to have that complete Raven interior... If it "ran a couple years ago," but now needs to be towed, I suspect the A4LD is the culprit.
