Re: Intercooler w/ cossie grill?

you can always cut the stock grill.
I remember years ago i had a different setup than you but it dropped
water temp quite a bit.
I wish i remembered exactly how much.

Re: cleaning piston tops

I had a 1990 audi coupe craptro When i was doing the head gasket i scrubbed the pistons in place. I used a wire brush & red scotch brite and wd40 i only scrub them at TDC so i can move them down the bore and try and wipe the crap out. Then I sprayed brake clean on a rag and wiped them out. (bores to...

I've never run a 1035. Only heard nothing but complaints about them.

Hey JV, you don't bother with head studs?

Re: ticking ??

Those would work... make sure you follow the instructions on shimming. Boport sells good stuff. I wouldn't hesitate to put in stock replacement factory length ones either. They are super easy to change if you have the special tool to compress the valve. Literally you pull the valve cover. use specia...

Re: valve spring removal

Just as a FYI, you should also get or borrow a cylinder leak down tester or make sure the piston is at TDC when you remove the springs in case valve drops. That would be bad. x2.... make sure the cylinder you are working on is at tdc. if its not you will be taking off the head to retrieve your valve.

Re: ticking ??

I sincerely doubt its your cam gear. Even if it is. the motor is non interference so it wont be the end of the world. I've only ever had a sheared a cam gear once, it was on an audi coupe i used to have. It was my fault I nipped the bolt and forgot to torque it the next day. er week... from your vid...

Re: head gasket failure advice needed

can you share part numbers for the studs and MLX gasket? Yes I am using the 8993 gasket, 15psi of boost and Ranger TTY bolts. My original 12 point bolts had threads that were a bit "necked down" so I tossed them. Also timing is set correctly at 12 degrees (SPOUT removed), NGK plugs (745 or somethin...

Re: rechroming cosworth headlights???

Since you use a heat gun to get the bubble out... thinking about it i think the vinyl would go dull/ melt from headlight heat... so any suggestions on where to get it rechromed... local place didn't want to touch for whatever reason. Am i correct in assuming what determines LHD from RHD is the patte...

Re: head gasket failure advice needed

Yah x2 on studs being preferred on performance engines. It's a general rule of thumb on most engines that you never reuse head bolts. As for the head gasket blowing, I'm more inclined to ask what gasket you are running? How much boost are you running? I think if you are running 18psi with factory bo...

Re: rechroming cosworth headlights???

eastwood coating looks tempting....

I've noticed there are a few reflectors potentially available overseas.
interestingly i notice some called out as LH reflectors.

I thought the lens is what made it Left Hand vs Right Hand drive since
the lense is what directs the light?? Perhaps i'm mistaken?

Re: rechroming cosworth headlights???

x2 on a what rechroming costs. I was most surprised that the cibie light needs the rechrome and the original cosworth/lucas one doesn't. The cibie light apparently has metal reflectors. I was surprised since I could have sworn the oem reflectors were plastic but its been like 6 years since i've had ...
