Re: T5 Clutch fork....

...Still leaves the matter of swapping out the inner stub axles for RS 108mm's, though, as well as budget. I suspect Mike Oyler and TimXr8 might have some sources, or pieces in stock? Tim, what's your website for parts?... I should really make one, just for my own reference really and to keep versi...

Also: https://anemboengineering.co.uk/ford-sierra-escort-cosworth-diff-conversion-kit-supra-diff-rs500-yb-2wd-4wd/ Yeah, MK Motorsport sold all their Sierra/Cossie stuff to Anembo. ...But, I like the Supra diff conversion kit with the precision stub axle adapters so you can use the stock (RS) C...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!

AXLES!!! that's the other thing. The XR/Sierra used the German (BMW) type CV joints. Same 100mm OD and 86mm PCD as the VW, but instead of the 33 spline, they're 25 spline. There have been many issues with the aftermarket replacements. Never really about the CV joint itself, but rather the axles have...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!

If that T-Bird box is the 4.03 1st gear type, you're in luck. The mainshaft 1st gear is the same as used in the 2.95 box. Unfortunately, now AMP distributing is having those made as they've been NLA from Tremec and suppliers have been running out. I was finding either NOS or refreshed Borg Warner on...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!

It is exactly that. Some people say they have issues with the "concentricity" of the recess for the cheaper billet retainers, but that has zero effect on the bearing. The bore in the case maintains the position while the retainer simply provides the axial load on the bearing race. I stoppe...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!

Holy crap, lots of T5 discussion here. Hopefully I remembered all the different posts that I can answer: First Off, take the thing apart and check the countershaft. Every single one, not most, EVERY ONE I have disassembled has had a loose cluster gear, even the 4cyl ones. That is what causes the blo...

Parts purge- JVAB coilovers, 5-lug parts, Custom parts

Well, I'm getting out of the Merkur game for a while. Additional family members and multiple moves coming up make for a lack of time and added expense of moving a project (with other projects) is not worth it. This stuff is also posted on FB, so things may sell elsewear. Shipping is not included. PM...

Re: No adapter Big Brakes

I was incorrect about the XR and Scorpio spindles having identical offsets. There is a ~3mm difference between the two, and so a XR spindle would need about .120" (~1/8") of additional spacing to what I've indicated above when using the Scorpio spindle. Thanks to Tim Spencer for this insi...

Re: 11" Brake Rotor

That likely is driven by the trend to upsized wheels. Gotta fill those increased open spaces. YMMV I'd argue it's the increase in speed and size of the cars. A modern Focus weighs over 500lbs more than the original. It's ridiculous. We either want to save the planet or we want to have a "bulle...

...Plus the stock brakes are still pretty small. Adapters are out there to use the Thunderbird MC and Mustang calipers and larger Contour SVT rotors. Makes sense to upgrade brakes. If you only swap the rear drums for discs you won't be happy with the results. Discs need more pressure to work than d...

DIY Wilwood Superlite 12.19" Racing Brake kit

Lots of talk about brakes. I've been doing them for a few years now with very good success with the Focus "conversion" mounting kits I've supplied. Recently I've found a much more friendly, bolt-in solution for some racing brakes. I've scoured the Wilwood racing catalog, mainly looking for...

These, yes, but I do have another set I can build up. They are silver in color. I'm awaiting a rear set from someone as a core for the rear. You interested?

Re: Ford Performance email mag: "RYAN LABOMBARD’S ECO-BOOSTED ’87 MERKUR RESTOMOD’S THE BOMB"

If I wasn't elbows deep in my 3.5 EB, I would have done the 2.3L EB. I believe in 2018, Ford switched to the 2.3L support with the Control Pack. It's the Mustang tuning with 310hp/340tq. Easily retuned to way more than that through the OBD II port. Huge amounts of aftermarket support.
