Parts purge- JVAB coilovers, 5-lug parts, Custom parts

Well, I'm getting out of the Merkur game for a while. Additional family members and multiple moves coming up make for a lack of time and added expense of moving a project (with other projects) is not worth it. This stuff is also posted on FB, so things may sell elsewear. Shipping is not included. PM...

Re: No adapter Big Brakes

I was incorrect about the XR and Scorpio spindles having identical offsets. There is a ~3mm difference between the two, and so a XR spindle would need about .120" (~1/8") of additional spacing to what I've indicated above when using the Scorpio spindle. Thanks to Tim Spencer for this insight. If yo...

Re: 11" Brake Rotor

That likely is driven by the trend to upsized wheels. Gotta fill those increased open spaces. YMMV I'd argue it's the increase in speed and size of the cars. A modern Focus weighs over 500lbs more than the original. It's ridiculous. We either want to save the planet or we want to have a "bulletproo...

...Plus the stock brakes are still pretty small. Adapters are out there to use the Thunderbird MC and Mustang calipers and larger Contour SVT rotors. Makes sense to upgrade brakes. If you only swap the rear drums for discs you won't be happy with the results. Discs need more pressure to work than d...

DIY Wilwood Superlite 12.19" Racing Brake kit

Lots of talk about brakes. I've been doing them for a few years now with very good success with the Focus "conversion" mounting kits I've supplied. Recently I've found a much more friendly, bolt-in solution for some racing brakes. I've scoured the Wilwood racing catalog, mainly looking for some sort...

Did these ever sell?
These, yes, but I do have another set I can build up. They are silver in color. I'm awaiting a rear set from someone as a core for the rear. You interested?

Re: Ford Performance email mag: "RYAN LABOMBARD’S ECO-BOOSTED ’87 MERKUR RESTOMOD’S THE BOMB"

If I wasn't elbows deep in my 3.5 EB, I would have done the 2.3L EB. I believe in 2018, Ford switched to the 2.3L support with the Control Pack. It's the Mustang tuning with 310hp/340tq. Easily retuned to way more than that through the OBD II port. Huge amounts of aftermarket support.

Re: Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

The TC uses a 45mm rear caliper piston, while the Focus uses a 38mm. You are gaining an inch of diameter and a much larger pad with the Focus. Also, Ford used a 38mm piston with the Mustang of those same years as the SN95 (PBR equipped), so there should be no issue with it.

...I ended up going MK route. Really? You get it already? Been going on 8 months now for the 6 degree beam modified for the Supra diff and fabricated TCAs. Things he claimed to have "ready" due to people backing out of a deal on the beam and then the TCAs were a run he was doing over the summer. St...

Drive shaft flange, and Solid crush sleeve options "Marlin Rock Crawlers" "solid crush sleeve" = Solid pinion spacer Quick disclaimer on the front pinion bearing: the one I recently received was the correct 30306M, but the depth seemed off. Everything went in correctly, but the bearing contact angl...

Re: Manual trans into auto xr

Wondering where that shaft came from, since the front tube and CSB look to be the only stock things on there. Joints look like the 1300 series (same size caps as the 1310, just a narrower joint). Very nice looking piece, done correctly.

Re: $135 More 11" rear brake kit brackets and Hoses available on SALE!!

Ugh, Escape calipers and pads? I thought there was something with Focus rear calipers and pads...??? The Aluminum caliper and pads are the exact same as the Focus on these. The pad "carrier" (bracket) is the only thing different. Alas!! I have more sets of the Focus brackets being plated as we spea...
