Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?

They are definately spherical, both the original ones and the Graham Goode ones. The angle that the bearings can make is not very big, but it is big enough for the application. The movement of the arms is without any binding in the bearings through the whole suspension travel. The Sierra was indeed...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?

They are sort of stock bushings for a Cosworth, which actually uses a spherical bearing as standard. The original Ford ones are no longer available though, but Graham Goode Racing in the UK remanufacters them. https://shop.grahamgoode.com/rear-trailing-arm-outer-bush-sierra-escort-cosworth-2wd-4x4-...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?

The sweep angle of the rear arms is changed from the standard 18 degrees to 6 degrees. As a result the camber and toe change under compression and droop is much less. The rear camber change on a Sierra is quite a lot and reduces traction in a straight line. The toe change on the rear pushes the car...

Re: 11" Brake Rotor

Went junkyarding today and came across a 2016 Focus with minimal miles - there was no lip on the rotor at all. So I came home with a pair of front calipers and rotors which I'll be mocking up on the PartScorp this Spring. I had forgotten about Tim's suggestion of grabbing the brackets from the 2005...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?

Not sure, but its always Been Said that the scorpio arms on Sierra IT Will be unstable when used hard since geometry get all over when get that low AS they Will on Sierra vs scorpio. I have a scorpio Cosworth rear setup laying around, not used since was told from pepole Been in the game long time, ...

Re: Will a complete Scorpio rear end bolt into a XR4ti?

Correction on the brake disc measurement: stock Scorpio and Standard disc Sierra is 253mm (9.96") which is the exact same as the standard focus from 99-07. Only the Cosworth cars got the 273mm (10.75"). XR STA hole size is 81mm (81.4 or so actually). The Scorpio is 82mm for the first 4mm, then opens...

Re: Shopping for the XR4Ti for Christmas

How are your beam mount bushings? If they are OE, or even brand new rubber, your poly diff mount will fail in short order, so it will take the majority of the force. Those need to be replaced with good poly, or even solid bushings.

Re: Proper Brake feel (and wheel questions)

Even the stock caliper pistons were a little over sized for the car interms of hydraulics. Mid-86 saw the larger master cylinder (15/16" to 1"). 1/16" doesn't sound like much, but it is about a 14% increase in area, which is not small. Back on topic, not really sure where air could be if you bled th...

Re: Proper Brake feel (and wheel questions)

WAIT, we got off topic a little... Air in the system is the most likely culprit for the pedal not engaging until about 1/3 of the way down? Once it engages it works really well, but it just seemed like such a far throw before it engages. What front brakes do you have? Are they stock? This sounds in...

Re: Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

Bump... I have 8 rear "kits" availabe: 2 sets of the V2 of the rear hoses and 6 sets of the V1 hoses. Only have 1 parking brake cable on hand and another 5 coming from England. I also have 2 sets of each of the V1 and V2 front hoses (V1 can be used with stock XR or Scorpio calipers as well and ONLY ...

Re: Turbo coupe disc rear disc brake kit.

Late to the party on this one, but is there a reason you are specifically looking for the Turbo Coupe kit? As Mike (merkurdepot) said, there are a couple better options. Both the MerkurDepot kit and mine are completely bolt-on with direct fit brake hoses. Mike's is a 10" Focus rotor utilizing Scorpi...

Re: XR4ST

I'll hop on a little bit of a critique. Your brakes are very strange. Essentially, depending on piston sizing, you have more powerful rear brakes compared to the fronts. Doesn't matter if the front are 4 piston, they are the small Wilwoods. You have to seriously restrict the pressure to the rear, wh...

Call John V (JVAB) and get the whole YB, all refreshed and nice, with computer and everything. 3 wires, fuel and you're running. Even has a full 4x4 setup as well. You won't pay as much as you would in Europe also.

Re: Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

How does this affect brake bias front to rear?? Thus far, nobody has complained regarding that. What this does do, since it uses a smaller piston, it allows the rear brakes to actuate earlier, but at a lower force. Total force applied should be pretty close to going the Scorpio/Sierra route, due to...

Re: Rear disc brake kit 11" NEW DESIGN

Unfortunately, besides the rare and expensive Cossie 4x4 pieces, there are no bolt-on vented rear rotors. But, many vehicles do perfectly well with solid rotors, even cars that see track time. The Focus RS uses 271mm (10.75") solid rotors in the back. These are marginally larger diameter.
