Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
Back to the discussion of a T-5 bell for the Duratec, Dellow Conversions in Austalia does make one, but it is for the Falcon-spec T-5 which has an input shaft length of about 6.5". https://dellowconversions.com.au/product/duratec-zetec-4-cyl-to-falcon-6-t5-trans/ Compare that to the Mustang-sp...

What kind of adapters were used? if you even used any. That looks interesting for people who are dead-set on vented rear rotors.EodGuy99 wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 3:33 pm https://photos.app.goo.gl/pVozfy7FaDH3gXAR7

Re: Thinking of v6 in XR
David Godfrey used a T5 that I believe BW built for him. I know it's custom to handle the amount of power that engine can produce.
Just curious why you wouldn't simply take the entire drivetrain with wiring and everything from an LS/Jaguar S-type/T-Bird?

Re: Teves MkII retrofit docs?
If you are not planning to run ABS, that main portion is all you need. The Servo block is not used. You just need to wire up the pressure switch to trigger a relay to run the pump. What car did that come out of? You can probably just change out the pedal push rod for the Scorpio one and call it a da...

Re: Focus Brake Mounting
The one odd thing on the XR is the way that there's a short intermediate hard line on one side but not on the other. Depending on how the routing worked out, I was thinking I'd create a intermediate line on the side where there wasn't one and re-fabricate the other one with a different fitting and ...

Re: DIY Wilwood Superlite 12.19" Racing Brake kit
Is this for the Scorpio or the XR? Either way, great job figuring this combination out! Um...it's in the XR section. The Scorpio has thinner ears and a different offset, so it would create the requirement for a lot of spacers. I would end up using the Universal Brackets and modify like I've done be...

Turn down the bearing retainer. Hell, I've got a bunch here and I can turn one down for you if you'd like.

Re: More T5 Threads. #amconfused
Yeah, all the Fords used the same front mounting and tail housings. Bearing retainers have the same OD for the bellhousing hole and snout OD for the throwout bearing. Early retainers are all aluminum and the input bearing in most 4 cyl boxes (the 3.97s I believe) is a 68mm OD vs the normal 65mm OD i...
Re: CV Joints
VW used a 33 spline axle on their Type 2/4 CVs, so don't cross reference those. Many of the aftermarket replacement actually have used that joint and you can ask people what have happened shortly after replacement...they broke right at the joint (axle broke, not the joint). Rebuilding stock units is...

...Still leaves the matter of swapping out the inner stub axles for RS 108mm's, though, as well as budget. I suspect Mike Oyler and TimXr8 might have some sources, or pieces in stock? Tim, what's your website for parts?... I should really make one, just for my own reference really and to keep versi...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
AXLES!!! that's the other thing. The XR/Sierra used the German (BMW) type CV joints. Same 100mm OD and 86mm PCD as the VW, but instead of the 33 spline, they're 25 spline. There have been many issues with the aftermarket replacements. Never really about the CV joint itself, but rather the axles have...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
If that T-Bird box is the 4.03 1st gear type, you're in luck. The mainshaft 1st gear is the same as used in the 2.95 box. Unfortunately, now AMP distributing is having those made as they've been NLA from Tremec and suppliers have been running out. I was finding either NOS or refreshed Borg Warner on...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
It is exactly that. Some people say they have issues with the "concentricity" of the recess for the cheaper billet retainers, but that has zero effect on the bearing. The bore in the case maintains the position while the retainer simply provides the axial load on the bearing race. I stoppe...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
Holy crap, lots of T5 discussion here. Hopefully I remembered all the different posts that I can answer: First Off, take the thing apart and check the countershaft. Every single one, not most, EVERY ONE I have disassembled has had a loose cluster gear, even the 4cyl ones. That is what causes the blo...
