Re: '87 XR4Ti for sale in Texas

Since I'm new to MCA, thought I should share my background. Recently retired from Ford after 34 years in Sales & Marketing. Drove my first XR4Ti in Denver back in 1985 as a factory Zone "sales car". Have many great memories of the XR from back then, including the marketing launch with the Western R...

Re: Vacuum Manifold Replacement

I guess I'm curious about what sensor you're using then. I used GM 1/2/3 bar sensors before, 3 bar did not have the same resolution for the map as 2 bar. If I was only going to 10psi, I didn't need a 3bar. Seems like a lot of people just bought 3 bar sensors to pretend they were cool, even though t...

I know it's from an Isuzu diesel truck. The issue, or my issue is that, there are more than just one.
If I had part numbers that are on the "top" of the intercooler, I can get drawing with dimensions and specifications.

Re: Vacuum Manifold Replacement

I have both (Stinger PimpX; MS3x). BAP sensor is inside the ECU case, and 4 bar MAP sensor reason manifold vacuum/pressure. Are you running in excess of 35 psi manifold pressure? I'm not really clear on how the Pimp system works... Nope, only at 15psi, but will likely inch up to 17-18. The sensor i...

Re: (used) Aluminum radiator & intercooler combo

That's cool, the intercooler should be bigger than the radiator, and also out front. And less like the 4 or 5 layer madness I see at pull a part on the vehicles missing the front bumper. That Big NPR intercooler is fantastic. I've been using one for years and in boost, it's rare to see more than 10...

Re: Vacuum Manifold Replacement

It does! Google "intake velocity" for some theory. TL;DR is you want the volume of the intake system to be big enough to pass enough air, but no bigger as excess reduces intake velocity and costs power. There are formulas for right-sizing the intake. Makes sense. I think this one was sized to match...

Re: C.V. Joint boots

Did you use the one with the metal flange, or just the standard boot. Part number? I know it's an old post.... Nowadays I would only consider getting the one with the flange already attached. That way you only need to be concerned with the seal on the axle, and some of them suggest that's self-seal...

Re: Eaton LSD

Well, it's funny that you would ask that question. I did want the TrueTrac. When I ordered, Chris thought I wanted the clutch type so that's what he sent. Being that I was on the fence about which one to get, I decided to keep the clutch type. We'll see how that works for me. If I don't like it, I ...

Re: Vacuum Manifold Replacement

True. Seems to be working well and I get a consistent MAP signal at the ECU.

Similarly, does intake plenum have a similar affect as a vacuum manifold size? I have a BIG plenum on mine welded to an inline lower...vs the stock no plenum at all.

Dumb question: Will anyone please share the part number for the correct diff for our application? For posterity?

911A319?
That's the TrueTrac I think. Do you want that or the clutch type LSD?

Keep or sell, would definitely not scrap this car unless you had irreparable rot holes in the floor/rockers.

Re: Vacuum Manifold Replacement

I made my own and threw it behind the false firewall. Easy to do.

I used this:

And then used the appropriate thread-in fittings with hose barb ends. Also lets you convert any critical vacuum lines to -AN braided if desired.

Re: My Build Thread: Project "Rain Cloud"

STILL need to post pics, but finally upgraded from the MS1/LA3 combo I was running, to go full standalone with the Stinger PimpX. What a difference. I had some wiring issues which I believe damaged the LA3 (still controlled IAC, coil dwell, fuel pump). I fixed the wiring, but the car ran like comple...

Re: Stock Diff Bearings

If you want to make sure you get the right parts, get them from mc2. You might pay more than sourcing on your own, but you'll know they are 100% correct. Wheel bearings and rear shoes are always a challenge.
