Re: Rear coil overs?

When I had an E36 M3, for the rear "coilover" setup you would simply have a spring sitting on top of a threaded sleeve for the adjustability. With that said, not every company went this route and preferred to utilize the method you are talking about. I just know with the tight clearances ...

Re: No Thermostat

Are you talking about for cars not running any charge cooling? For the most part yes, but the lower temp with regard to extending headroom for pre-detonation still is applicable to an intercooled car. Finding that sweet spot is hard though, where the richer mixer reduces power. WMI is a good (bette...

Re: No Thermostat

Went ahead and ordered the Gates 33298S 180 degree - seemed well-liked and in that range where it's a bit cooler but not significantly. Fuel economy on the car has always been acceptable (25-30mpg city) with no thermostat so feeling confident that this will be okay too. 25-30?? Man I couldn't get a...

Re: No Thermostat

The trade-off of running a 185F thermostat is slightly less fuel economy but you will gain more power (about 2-3%). Have dyno results? Stock ECU, these cars run pig rich in boost and the last thing they need is more fuel to make more power. I gained significant power (yes, I have the dyno sheets so...

The car looked mint, nice to know they sacrificed something else.
Good spot! I didn't notice they switched cars at the end.

Music Video Sierra Spotting

Surprised to see a Sierra in the video! But, makes sense with Maria Becerra being Argentinian - Last time I visited (3-4 years ago), they were everywhere (mostly 2.3 NAs, but still).

Re: Bilsteins B8

I use Gorilla tape to center my sleeve on the B8s. I was going to use a shaft collar to sit the sleeve on instead of the weld, but the tape seemed to center it fine.

Re: T9 Clutch Reservoir?

Power steering fluid/ATF is red, I think? Been a while since I had any, and that commonly leaks on the XR.

Re: My Build Thread: Project "Rain Cloud"

So much time since the last update on this car, so little has been done. I picked up another project car during COVID (2002 SVT Focus) which probably didn't help dedicating time to the Merkur. Merkur still runs, fired it up for the first time in 2 years last weekend. Changed the timing belt as preve...

Re: TFI relocated

Very random thought/comment, but what suspension do you have and how is your strut bearing installed? The amount of threads showing looks JUST like a car I worked on where the upper spring cup / strut bearing weren't stacked and installed correctly. With Powerflex yellows I had a good inch of thread...

Re: Torque Spec for Lugnuts

I believe 75ft/lbs is what we've universally agreed on for stock lugs on stock wheels.

Stock lugs are 45* conical seat. When using more common 60* conical seat lugs on aftermarket wheels, I use 95-100 ft/lbs, especially with ARP studs.

Re: MC2 website

I just got word from Chris that Mc2 is shutting down. I had ordered a plate diff from him but he couldn't fulfill so he refunded me and let me know of his change in business plans. Oh wow, that is such a huge loss. Really sad to hear. Looks like they updated their homepage to reflect this. Thankful...
