Any Good autoshops around Lafayette, IN

My son just drove our CA 86 XR4ti out to Perdue, be there for a year. Anyone have a shop or mechanic around there, they can reccomend? Done a fair amount of work on it but it has the annoying tendancy to crap out when you don't have time to work on it. No good place to work on it either.

Thx

Re: Wideband AFRs - any preferences out there

Thx all, short list is Innovate and AEM, but might have to wait a bit my AC compressor is making some interesting noises and not cooling at all. In 100 + weather I'm motivated to fix that first.

Wideband AFRs - any preferences out there

Any clear winners to use, where to get them lowest price?

They seem to be right around $200 most seem to use Bosch 4.9 5 wire sensors...

Ideas?

Re: So. Cal. Turbo Ford Meet

We didn't make, though we figered out the electrical issue, after we got the plugs and the light bar cleaned up still had a bad cross feed, brake turn signals. On the right plug the ground was messed up used a toothpick to stabilize it. Lights back to bright and no cross feed. So we missed it for a ...

Just replaced the front fan and now running better, fan was throwing some kind of electronic hash causing it to go way rich. AC is working again, just got the corroision out of the right taillight checking the lef...

Re: AC fan repalcement - Tips?

Yeah, thought about that too... never taken one off. Mine seems a bit weathered, sort of worried that it might self destruct?

Heading over to the shop this pm.

Re: AC fan repalcement - Tips?

Thx Ed, I started on it and hit a deadend, got the three bolts out, one was a bear to turn, original though was to get it out the bottom. There is a bottom bracket arm that is attached to the condenser (riveted) and it is solid won't bend at all. The fan motor housing is tight against the back of th...

AC fan repalcement - Tips?

Need to repalce the front fan, the one by the condenser. The manual sort of implies that you have to remove the condensor/radiator assmbly, then change the fan out. Whats the easiest way to do this, anyone done this? I have changed out the rear fan that was fairly easy. Any info appreciated. I have ...

Make sure you keep the hood insulation from sagging or falling on the turbo, it can cause a merry blaze. I took mine off completely.

Re: Turbo Ford Meet at Sonic Drive-in

Esteban,

Tall, white hair and beard, white stock 86 merk with 88 wheels. Was second car there.

My olddog, came from an online game I play called Warbirds, it seemed to fit so I use it for most of my online handles, callsigns, forum names etc.
Nextime we can wear nametags, make it easier.

Re: Cooling fans

Nope it was the fan, not sure if it was the load though, I loaded the alternator by turning everything on, AC, High beams, front fan, brake lights, everything electrical that I could turn on I did. Didn't really change anything, held the voltage and the engine ran about the same, crappy. All it took...
