Re: merkur-sierra winter photos
my last RWD winter daily driver was a 1973 datsun 510. looked similar to this, but with cosmic wheels
went to the scrap yard about 1981. all my subsequent RWD cars have been garaged from mid november to mid april.

Re: Rust Prevention & Treatments
one of the things i like about evaporust is that it dissolves the rust without damaging the paint. FWIW, here's a gel product for vertical surfaces that also doesnt damage paint: https://www.amazon.com/Daubert-Cromwell-NRGEL5QT-NOX-RUST%C2%AE-REMOVING/dp/B00ANUNUDQ http://www.daubertcromwell.com/PDF...

Re: Rust Prevention & Treatments
this is a good summary of rust removers/dissolvers vs. converters vs. encapsulators: http://www.autoeducation.com/autoshop101/rust_treatment_and_prevention.htm the rust converters and encapsulators always seem to have mixed reviews. AFAIK the problem is the protective barrier/seal often has small cr...

Re: Suspension help - or, a good shop in West Texas
maybe swap the front and rear tires to see if the problem goes away (tread separation)? maybe the alignment? i've had lowered cars and never noticed a significant handling problem. most of my cars' tires rub occasionally because of lowering, wide tires, nonstock wheel offset, etc, but never a real p...

Re: tire pressure question
i've always kept mine at the factory spec...26 lbs...though it seems low compared to my other cars. the mustang svo was 28 lbs front and rear https://lmr.com/item/OS-DF1155/84-85-Mustang-Svo-Tire-Pressure-Decal https://cfc7329ad537523a5de1-b21544d490ba797ec9de9d17e947de3d.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/os-df11...

Re: Rear Wing R&D?
this might help (written by rick byrnes): http://www.merkurencyclopedia.com/Merkur_misc/aerodyne.html when byrnes ran at bonneville, the pics show biwing and monowing versions. the moreton book is partly available on the web. the rs model is at page 90-94 (not available), but the rs500 is at page 13...

Re: sometimes car stumbles at steady cruise
How do you reset the engine idle after replacing the tps? I replacled the tps yesterday, and the stumble is gone. But car won't idle on startup. The engine will die unless I feather the gas peddle to keep it going. After driving the car for about a city block, the car will fix the problem itself, an...

Re: sometimes car stumbles at steady cruise
this morning, i was driving on the highway and the stumble/hesitation started up again at about 3000 rpm in 5th gear (about 70 mph). i pulled off the highway, and noticed the stumble would recur in all the other gears 1 to 4 at the same rpm. this afternoon, i got the code reader, and it shows its th...
