Re: Alternative HVAC Blower Motor/Fan Housing - <updated pic

Can you take a picture of the resistor block? If it uses standard wire-wound ceramic resistors, they shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

Re: Hello from Germany

It's a modification of an American aphorism (short piece of wisdom) "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." I believe a similar saying in German is "Die Kirschen aus Nachbars Garten schmecken immer besser." (The cherries from the neighbor's garden always tas...

Move it up and blend it into the fenders. THen you can have a one-piece do it all grillbumper. And wouldn't that be great?!

What transmission/diff/RPM limit are you running to get 95mph 3rd gear? That slalom sounds like a blast!

Re: Replacing Cluster Regulator

I have an 80W stained glass iron. I'll give that a try before I go heating it up too much - I'd rather not melt the plastic on the other side if I can help it. Thanks for the tips, everyone.

Pause as it goes by and you can see it's Dave Clark and Sean Medcroft. Nice homage to Rigollet too.

Already de-soldered. I just need to get it off the post that it's on. From what people have said, it might be welded on?

Interesting thought. I hope that's not the case, but it seems likely considering how hard the darn thing is to move.

Re: Replacing Cluster Regulator

Here are a couple images of the fuel/temp gauges out. The thing I need to pull off is the black chip. I can't for the life of me figure out how the stud comes out of the hole in the chip. I know at least one enthusiast out there has repaired these, but my attempts to contact him haven't panned out. ...

You forgot step five, Don. Wait 5 years, forget about original project, try again. :P Good luck with your dreams of an XR (V8 or not), OP!

Replacing Cluster Regulator

I have my cluster apart and the new regulator, but I am stumped as to how to remove the old regulator. Does anyone know how to get the old regulator off the metal plate it is bolted to?

Re: The 200mph Merkur

Wow. Wow oh wow. Okay, now that you've got the head and the block, how the heck do you plan on laying down 900hp? I've not driven many XRs, but they seem like they'd be a handful at half that power. Still, proper homage to the old with the new, eh? Huh??? It's a racecar. More specifically, it's a p...
