Brad, I haven't been around lately after selling my Merkur, and with being knee deep in my own nutty project. It's fantastic seeing the progress you have been making! I'll definitely be checking back to see your progress. I may have to actually make it to Carlisle this year to see this thing in pers...

I was interested. Thanks for those shots of the axles. finally get it!

Unfortunately, with the XR gone *sob* I won't be following through. I will probably just sell the spare beam, 7.5 diff, axles and limited slip carrier for what I have in them when someone local wants to get one done.

I am sitting here looking at a gas tank from Renu. It is VERY nice. I would not hesitate to recommend them for restoring a rusted tank, and the price (~150.00) is right.

It's also a poor man's regular-premium switch. You can probably run 87 octane at 10 psi boost levels in most cars.

Not a new concept, but a very sound one.

I'm with Mike. Sounds like a 'dead spot' on one of the two components he mentioned.

Yeah, the holes in the pistons lower the compression so you get less knock.

One footnote to this, I had a set of front rotors on the XR for a Cougar (PBR conversion) that I purchased from NAPA that would not keep a good surface. In less than 1000 miles I would get a pulsation, and I could SEE the difference in transfer of pad material. I understand that a lot of rotors are ...

This is a fuel delivery problem. Check for fuel pressure at the rail and work backwards toward the tank and pumps if you don't have it.

VAM=earlier flapper door air metering device. Measures air flow through the amount the air door is pushed open by passing air. It's what we have. MAF= heated wire type of air measuring device. Uses changing resistance in a heated wire to calculate mass of air passing thru the metered opening. Later ...

If I recall, Harry King was once experimenting with a True-trac in a Merkur diff. He got busy with babies and such, so I doubt if he has any new info, but may be worth dropping an e-mail to him. He is a TurboFord member, and may even be registered here.
