WVa Parts Picking
I have been posting this on Facebook and didn't think of putting it on the forum, at least until I was reminded about it. I have had a lot of response from the Facebook group, and for those who so not do Facebook here is what is going on. On Saturday, Nov, 17, 2018, in the hills of WV, there are two...

Re: Random stalling
My car stalls when it is fully warmed up. Just as the electric fan kicks on, it draws so much power it just cuts the power for a second or two, but it's enough time to interrupt the electrical system that it shuts off the engine. Car has 181,00+ miles on it and the electric fan is probably getting a...

Re: Differential leak
I was not sure about the oil for the differential, I'll check it out.
There is no gasket, that is from the factory, just a sealer of some kind, I was considering on making a gasket.
Thanks,

Re: Differential leak
Update. Found that my differential is not leaking. I can't believe the stupid stuff that people do, you just have to read it to believe it. Got the back cover plate off, lots of differential oil came out, not bad for a car that has 180,000 plus miles on it. I could tell from the oil level from the i...

Re: Differential leak
It's probably the stub shaft seal inside the differential. It's not hard to change but its not really easy. Remove the cv axle remove the diff back cover (the oil will drain out, it's probably due to be changed anyway) then inside the diff there is a big c clip that retains the stub shaft, remove t...

Differential leak
Doing some repair work on some water leakage into the trunk, I had to remove the fuel tank and decided to do some upgrades. Install a new differential mount and new fuel pump both from MC2 Racing and discovered the the right (passenger) side of the differential was drenched with oil/grease around th...

Re: New, Just Bought an 87 Xr from one of you
Welcome to the group. And we are almost neighbors, I live just north of Hagerstown, MD on the PA side. I had a problem with the fuel pump not running and one of several things I had a problem with was the ignition switch, the electrical part of switch not the mechanical part. The car would turn over...

Re: Tubocharger rebuilding
DO NOT USE www.gpopshop.com. The "locknut for the shaft" that they use in their rebuilds, and also put in the rebuild kits are NOT a LOCKNUT. It is just a standard regular nut that you purchase in any hardware stop. I got a kit, had another club member show me how to to it, followed their ...

Re: XR Failed Emissions-- First Time Evar, For Me
Maybe someone else knows a little more about this. I live in South Central PA and I just happen to live in one of the counties that does not yet require emissions test. Some years back when the State started enforcing emissions tests in nearby counties, some of the alcohol fuel race car drivers knew...

Re: Merkur parts catalog
www.merkurdepot.com had a "Merkur Parts Master List CD" that they had on sale last month for about $5.00, but I could not locate it on their Web site, I had just sent a message to them to ask about the CD, if it was still available, and it is. I ordered a CD.

XR4Ti windshield
The new windshield that I had put in back in Oct. 2010 cost me $425.00 + $150.00 to put it in. The current one getting put in now I do not have a price on it yet, I got Ins. coverage on the car with a $100.00 deductible but they want to stick generic molding on the inside and outside. I do not deal ...

XR4Ti windshield
In early 2010 I purchased a '87 XR4Ti which had a crack down the center of the windshield, owner had no idea how it got broke. PPG was reproducing the windshields again and making 50 of them. I was put on a waiting list and finely got it put in, Oct. 2010. The windshield is again broke down the cent...

XR4Ti Rear View Mirror Mounting Pad
I am new to this group. Wish I had found this information before I had a windshield put in. And yes the glass shop glued the rear view mirror on and in about 6 months there is a crack down the middle of the windshield and the rear view mirror was on the floor. It did a half moon around the rear view...
