Re: Greetings & 8.8 IRS
Welcome to the forum. I can't help with the 8.8 search, but I was happy to see your post. I owned that car for 13 years or so before it went to Don, so it's interesting to hear what's happening with it now. Unfortunately, it had a very boring life with me, mostly sitting and waiting for someone to ...

There's nothing wrong with 17's, I just don't care for the styling. If I'm spending money on wheels, it will be wheels that I like.

Re: New to forum Intro
You never had to do front wheel bearings on it? Guibos? CV axles? TFIs? Distributor? Alternator? Timing belt(s)? YMMV Guibos? Not familiar with that term. Never had to replace halfshafts or just CV's. Replaced a TFI once (long story). Original distributor. Alternator is still original to my recolle...

Re: New to forum Intro
I'm splitting your post off into its own thread. Two separate discussions about new members and their cars in the same thread is likely to get confusing, quickly.
Also, could you elaborate on what "ReTimed 18°out" means? I have some concerns about that.

Welcome to the forum. At this point, there are a number of high-mileage Merkurs out there, but yours is still going to be near the top, I think.

Re: Cleaning the VAM
I have an opinion, but it's just a guess and not fact/experience-based. In the absence of other input, I'd look at using MAF cleaner. I'm not confident enough that's the right answer to tell the OP that's what he should do though.

Just checked, seems to be working fine for me.
Maybe a temporary hitch with their ISP?

It looks nice. Thanks for posting the pictures!

Re: Headlight washers
I was thinking along the lines of either US military or US diplomat that owned it at a previous duty station and was then assigned to Russia. I could easily see someone working in DC or at a US military base buying a Scorpio here and then getting a job change that sent them overseas. I believe shipp...

Re: Headlight washers
Wow. You shipped a Merkur Scorpio over to Moscow. That seems a little crazy to me. Mainly because the rest of us generally covet the Euro items (like glass headlights and RS body kits) and ship them over to the US! I think that's jumping to conclusions. It seems more likely to me that a previous ow...

Re: Headlight washers
On the other hand, I thought there many more Scorpios on the road. Is it really such a small number? I don't have any statistics at my fingertips, but I'm quite sure it's higher than that. I can think of at least seven just among the recently active posters on this board and there are many Merkur o...
