Re: Final Word on Pistons and Rods
Well, for information, I'm a tool and Die maker by trade. I do use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, feeler gauges, hole micrometers, etc... all day long. I did pull the piston out of cyl#1 as I had to change the rod. There was no marks on the cyl walls. Slight wear on piston squirts but nothing ...

Re: Final Word on Pistons and Rods
I have been running sealed power Hypereutectic pistons h559p with no issues. Got 60K miles on them running 18 psi T3/.63 trim turbo with a PE computer and RS500 intercooler with ranger cam. Car has goobs of torque and decent HP. I just pulled motor out of car (actually gutted car) to do a major rust...

Re: HELP!! Oil pressure gremlins!
I would definitely use a windage tray for autoX unless of course your new pan already has a windage tray built in. Bolts onto the main journals. It help keeps the oil down in the pan instead of sloshing around in the pan. http://marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/StoreFrontProfiles/DeluxeSFItemDe...

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED!!
You can use any tfi from that era. Mustangs, thunderbirds, escorts, tempos, Mercury versions too. I think you can go up to the 1990 years for most vehicles. Doesn't matter if its a I4, I6, V6 or V8. You can even go to ford f150's to f350's up to 1996. Only thing is make sure it mounts on the same si...

Re: Shift knob threads
Helicoil works good in the original shift knob. Mine stripped out so I took it to work and installed M10x1.5 helicoil in it. As good as new if not better.

Helicoils worked great for mine. Had two out of the 4 strip out so I just helicoiled the 2 and I am able to tighten then no problem.

Re: Wiring and Fuses (#12)
Most radios that I have installed have there own fuse built right into the wire or in the back of the radio. Should be no need to rewire it.

Re: Thermostat housing
So far every cast housing I have gotten from auto part stores do not work. Like someone stated above, there not enough material to seal around the thermostat inside the housing. Some were so bad that is would act like there wasn't a thermostat even there, lol. If I still have one of those lying arou...

Re: Failure Mode for Throttle Position Sensor
I had the same problem till I found out it was the throttle plate shaft having to much side to side play. The throttle plate would become off center and get hung up on the side of the bore inside the throttle body. When you have high idle, press on the throttle plate shaft linkage and see if you rpm...
