Re: Merkur at Sema
I've often thought that if I had a ton of cash and time, that a modern 2.3T ecoboost motor might be a fun swap. I wouldn't want the giant bulge he ended up with on his swap, if possible. I would love it if he would post a build thread here, or even offer up dash repair service. Whatever he did to th...

Now to find out how he did that dash cover, and or if he'll do some for us. It looks nice from the pics. The gauge he has look good too.

Re: Need pics, drwings of Merkur depot rad installs
Pulled t-stat to test it, and instantly saw that it is not failed open, but also is 2° colder than service manual says I should have. I will be replacing this and report back.

Re: Need pics, drwings of Merkur depot rad installs
I think mine is the heavy one. Shorty rad, stock style heater core that is clean, and Merkur depot AL expansion tank. I have only one extra fitting on the tank at the top where the cap goes. Was thinking I'd put the vent hose from rad to there. My biggest issue, and maybe I just need a 208, or 212 t...

Need pics, drwings of Merkur depot rad installs
Mostly looking for plumbing diagrams/photos. I have been fighting a rich condition for a while now, and I am wondering if i have my shorty rad plumbed correctly. I need to add the vent hose to the coolant tank for sure, but beyond that it looks like I have everything right. Other than running rich I...

Re: Vibration under hard accel
On one hand that would be great, much easier on my bad back, and I wouldn't have to listen to "she who must be obeyed" complain about working on the car all the time. On the other hand my brain would rot from having nothing to do on the weekends but mow the lawn and play xbox.

Re: Vibration under hard accel
Put the shims in between body and csb, tightened e-brake cable a bit. Vibes in 2 and 3 haven't been noticed since. I can still induce them in first. It comes down to a new driveshaft with a smaller od. The one I had made is bigger than stock, can't remember numbers off top of head just now. But it m...

Re: Road trips to take, or wish to take
Depending on where in WY you go May is the earliest you wanna start. October can get dicey, as snow can close some roads as early as late Sept. My dad lives in Rock River, and I've spent many weekends running back and forth from Boulder to his place. I never got stuck up there, but one year on the w...

Do it to it bro. Jsmust give a shout before hand. If time you can even meet some of the other owners out here like Ghost.

Re: Vibration under hard accel
Got the new trans mount in, and now it looks like the driveshaft alignment needs looking at. It vibrates all the time on accel in 1st thru 3rd starting at around 2500rpm, and disappearing at 4k. I don't have the shims between the body and the CSB, so that'll be tomorrows project, and another test dr...

Re: Road trips to take, or wish to take
ALCAN highway has been on my list since a buddy worked rafting tours in Alaska after high school. He drove up, and back more than once IIRC. Unfortunately it will be a solo run as she who must be obeyed does not share the desire. I'd plan for a full month minimum as its about 14 days drive from Long...

Re: Vibration under hard accel
No, and the Scorpio used a different mount than the xr also. When going to a T5 I think most people do like Ghost did. He's where I got my T5 from. He fabricated an adapter to mate the trans to the XR factory mount. I'll get a photo later. Just got out from under car. Its definitely the trans mount....

Re: Vibration under hard accel
Motor mounts were replaced with SC mounts 10-15yrs ago. I'll check them too. Driveshaft angle is new territory, as I don't think anyone else is doing a 2 piece DS with T5. I imagine it's ok, as like I said issue only pops up under hard accel thru 3rd. If I'm cruising at 65, and get on it to go up to...

Vibration under hard accel
Ever since I converted to T5 with a custom 2 piece drive shaft that retains the center support bearing i have had an intermittent vibration under hard acceleration. Today it got so bad that when I let off the gas it continued for more violently than it had previously. Initially I had thought it was ...
