Cheapest option is a tap then. Most parts stores should carry cheap spark plug thread chasers.

I certainly wouldn't use a helicoil for a spark plug fix. Only thing i'd trust is a time-sert. Unfortunately the kits aren't the cheapest things in the world, but its cheaper than a new head. Most automotive machine shops (if there is one in your area) will probably press the old bearing out and the new bearing in for a heck of a lot cheaper than it would cost you to buy the correct tools you will need.
