Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Canadian and US Scorpios were the same, and I've seen Scorpio seats installed in an XR, but I think the rails have to be modified somehow. These particular seats also sit higher than stock Scorpio seats so I think in an XR they'd cut down a bit on headroom.

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Interior alone is worth the trip..... It does look gorgeous. I should point out that the vinyl on the top edge of the passenger front door pad is starting to peel away from the card but there isn't any damage to either. I'm fairly certain both map pockets have all their screw standoffs intact but I...

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Go to your Canadian DMV and get export plates/docs there. Info gets verified at the border and you are good to go. I'll look in to this but I'm afraid that since it's been off the road for so long with no insurance on it, to get any kind of plates would mean a safety inspection and emission test. B...

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Thanks for at least considering it. I'd love for it (or parts of it) to live on. But keep in mind that this would be a labour of love as I think it's too rusty to reasonably restore to roadworthy status.

Kicking myself right now!

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

I recommend looking up the process online. It's more than 30 years old, so there shouldn't be any restrictions as far as emissions/crash test standards/etc is concerned. The only issue is of course that it doesn't run, so if you're transporting it by carrier it would probably cost more. I wish I had...

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Has anyone heard from Marc/Mario lately? Wouldn't mind at least letting him know what's up with the car.

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Yeah, I feel terrible for letting the car get to this condition. I always scorned people who parked cars and let them rot, but life goes by quick and things get pushed aside. I feel especially bad for my dad, as he loved this thing when we bought it, and he still thinks we're going to restore it and...

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Yes indeed, they're mk2 seats. To be honest, I prefer the mk1 seats as they offer more thigh and shoulder support, and the headrests have a wider range of adjustment. The stay of execution has been temporarily suspended due to the insane amount of snow we've had, which has all been plowed around the...

Re: 1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Sorry for neglecting this post for so long, just been terribly busy. I went around and grabbed some pictures of it, and in doing so I discovered that the car has deteriorated a little more than I remember. It does have rust creeping in the bottoms of the doors and in the rear arches. The rockers are...

1989 Scorpio FREE Ontario, Canada

Hi all. It's been a while, I hope everyone is doing well! Unfortunately I've lost storage on my Crystal Blue/Raven '89 Scorpio. It was running beautifully until 3.5 years ago when it came down with a stumbling/hesitation issue that got progressively worse, until it refused to start. Could be fuel pu...

Re: At wit's end - no start

Code 11s a few times that I checked, and once I got a 67 and one other which I think are IAT out of range and ECT out of range. But the engine was cold both times. And even with a bad ECT it should still start, right? Does the EEC take ECT into account on startup?

Re: At wit's end - no start

Your thoughts echo mine completely. Thanks for the input. I'm wondering if it could be a few stuck injectors washing everything down. I noticed it had been getting worse and worse fuel economy (from 19mpg avg down to 15 and eventually 13 on the last tank of fuel), and with the cats having melted the...

Re: At wit's end - no start

Lol, yeah. I figured if it was off a tooth, the dizzy rotor wouldn't be pointing anywhere near cyl #1 on the cap, and it is. UNLESS it's 180deg out, which would be a miraculous disaster. Well, I guess I'll just have to swap the steering rack out of that car in to my 88 and drive that one for now, ti...

Re: At wit's end - no start

So you think the timing chain slipped, eh? Hmm, hate to pull the front end dress off just to check for sure but I guess that's the last thing I haven't tried, so it HAS to be it! Haha, damn it.

Re: At wit's end - no start

Yeah, changed out the tfi with a known good one, as well as the coil and whole distributor (to eliminate the pip). Although all of these have been used parts, I wouldn't think it matters if they're new or not. Got spark at all 6 plugs. My hair is falling out from all the head scratching I've been do...
