Re: 1988 XR4 with 2004R 54,637 miles original owner

There was a guy who had an XR for sale about nine years ago with a Grand National transmission in it. He was a former Ford engineer IIRC and lived in Michigan.

Re: Stock Scorpio 5-speed?

It was a T9 in the 5spd Scorpio. 1989 model year only. No 5spd for the US in 1988. The most commonly passed around rumor I've heard repeated multiple times is that there were 200 5spd cars. That website thinks there are some 1990 model year Merkurs, too. :BS There were 1990 MY Scorpios. They just w...

Re: Merkur goodies for Christmas?

I'm owed a Christmas gift, new leather for my XR's driver's seat, but I haven't been able to get Russ to call me back. Anyone know if his health is OK?

Re: Apparently Im stupid.

Sooner or later XR guys end up adding a Scorpio to the stable. Totally normal (to us, at least). Yep. After three XRs, I got a Scorpio. It actually has been on the road a few times as well. Reminds me, I need to get in touch with Bob and get my free year. I just got it licensed, before it was borro...

Re: Did you like the Wheeler Dealers XR episode?

After the Capri II episodee I tend to be skeptical on both the sale and the price. Still entertaining to watch though. I even like Ant as much as I liked Edd.

You'll never truly know if they make a profit on it. They often haven't even sold them by the time they "sell" it.

Re: New Here- Planning on buying an XR4Ti soon!

What Mike said is true, but there are parts that are hard to or impossible to find at this point. But I had one new in 86 and getting parts for them even then was hard. After Ford abandoned the brand it became far more difficult, but now with the internet and vendors reproducing parts, it is easier.
