Re: Need help with t5 install

Just did the swap myself. Same issue so I ordered a DG manual clutch adjuster and installed it. I adjusted the cable until it engaged half way down the pedal travel. Everything's great now. The cables can get a little stretched out and aren't quite up to the task of yanking on that clutch fork.

Re: Adjustable front control arms

I had the same concerns about fitment with our models. Seems like a solid design though. I've seen similar ones for other cars and have heard good things. Replaceable ball joints would be nice but I think your point is that we'd need to know which ones to use to replace them. Thanks for the replies ...

Re: 1987 XR4Ti, 66xxx miles

I brought one in from Vancouver almost a year ago and it was super easy. Mine was an 88 and was exempt from taxes etc. due to age. Drove it across the border. Stopped at customs and showed the Canadian insurance thingy and a bill of sale. Don't remember if there was anything else. Check their websit...

Re: Steering Shake

I second that! Could be something simple when they balanced the tires like getting distracted while putting wheel weights on or more severely a bad tire (bit more rare). Human error is more likely IMHO

2015 2.3l turbo mustang revival

With the new 2015 mustang there's going to be a 2.3l turbo option. Who's going to be the first to swap one in a Merk? I've been daydreaming a lot on this. Hopefully we'll see some wrecked cars getting parted out after release. Could be fun!

Re: Advice on crankshaft grinding

My first thought is get a second opinion from another machine shop. Second, you have to pull the other motor out anyway so might as well grab the crank from it and then get it machined. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll be correct size to match the parts you already bought. Just my .02$ Good luck tho...

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED!!

With the money spent guessing and swapping parts you probably could have towed it to where it needed to go and get fixed. I've been down that rabbit hole on my first merkur when I was a teen and short on cash. Hindsight will show to pay the cost to diagnose it corectly the first time. Good luck and ...

Re: rack rebuilding or replacing?

Having recently messed around with mine, I tried doing the 'depowering' mod described in one of the threads (can find it by searching here) and ran into an issue. The thread describes the procedure for a trw rack, not a zf. While the process was similar, there was definitely some major differences. ...

Re: Import a '86 Sierra XR4x4??

I just drove to canada to bring a 88 xr4ti back to Washington and it was really easy going through customs but the car was originally from the states so that helped too. From what I read ahead of time the easiest way is to talk to an importer and have them arrange it. That will cover shipping it and...

Re: Having some bad luck. In a rut.

As stated above, timing is probably off after doing head work. If compression has increased then that should require adjustment to the timing.
