FS - Complete Interior : Very Good Condition!!

Hello All, I have for sale the complete interior from my 88 Xr4ti. It is extremely good condition for the age! Original grey leather. I have every last single bit of trim or interior : form the main carpet, down to overhead lamp at the front, or that little beige screw retaining the sun visors. Ever...

Re: Name that fitting?

Hum. Come to think of it, it could also be an adapter of some sort, if you can't plug your line directly into the caliper...

Re: Name that fitting?

I'm not an expert, but the only type of in-line fittings that I know can be used on a brake line are : 1) Residual pressure valve, commonly known as a «2 psi valve». It is usually used on applications where the MC sits lower than the caliper, to prevent hydraulic fluid to head down back to the reser...

Re: Donwpipe nuts

I'm pretty sure the stock studs are M12x1.75

As a side note, since I didn't have the M12x1.75 die, and the studs were rusty, I re-threaded the studs to 7/16"-14, and used those nuts on it : http://www.mcmaster.com/#94831a641/=o6kqvr

Works good so far, the new thread seemed plenty strong.

Re: Question of details...

Thanks DAReese for the useful info.

For the rest of you, don't worry, the car has some bigger isssues than that to keep me busy . I'm not necessarely going to get to all that right now, but I like to have a list of what needs fixing, you know, so that I never run out of stuff to do! :P

Question of details...

Yeah, these are details! But I like to get them right. 1) See the cords for the parcel tray? They are hanging low. Have they stretched out over time or is there another way to run them? I have them through the parcel tray opening hole, then all the way to the hook on the oposite side. Either way, it...

Re: An XR4Ti from Quebec

A real exhaust "repair" should be on before the end of the summer, don't wory about that! As for the bumper, I would very much like to position it properly, but the previous owner has already gotten it cut and shortened :x . Now, I have to make the best of it, and it's giving me kind of a hard time....

Wiring and Fuses (#12)

So I am currently working on some electrical stuff on the xr4ti and upgrading the radio, amongst other things. The new head unit states that it should be fused @ 20 Amps. The stock current system is fused @ 25 Amps, through fuse #12. However, according to the wiring diagrams, that 25A is not only fo...

Re: An XR4Ti from Quebec

Time for an update. I have gotten some stuff done to the car since I got it, but progress is really slow :(. Part of it is that I put most of my time prepping the FSAE car and team for our competition 2 weeks ago. Now that FSAE season is over, it's all towards the Merkur and things should move faste...

Engine Undertray

I remember reading somewhere about an undertray cover under the engine bay or something along those lines, but can't find it anymore. I believe that piece would be missing on my XR. There is some bracket piece under the front crossmember that seems like it would retain some kind of rubber flap, but ...

Re: That XR4Ti is one dangerous car!

Your car got posted on my facebook the other day, spotted at 10/30, was your car the one that was for sale I think from a guy in Candiac? You should remove the merkur badge from the front and get a ford one. Hey that's my car! Since the windows are down, I must have been no more than a few feet awa...

Re: That XR4Ti is one dangerous car!

Im also in monteal.. Where did you get your car from i had to import mine, still need to have it inspected.. Did you buy it off a guy off kijiji? Great! There were and are quite a couple of Merkurs for sale around Montreal, ranging from 1k to 15k. In my opinion, I got the best one, or the one that ...

Re: That XR4Ti is one dangerous car!

To John : As far as I know, we only got the Merkurs, and they are getting very rare on the roads! @ Mike : I will definitely be interested in a meet, whether in Ottawa or anywhere else :) . Who else is there in or around Montreal? I checked the forum for Montreal users, and none seemed active. I kno...

Re: An XR4Ti from Quebec

Thanks everyone for the comments. About the insurance thing, it's not that the government is against it, it's just that being a young male driver, insurance companies are pretty precautious. It is possible to find a company that will insure a modded car in Quebec, but they charge a lot for it, more ...
