Re: New Seat Belts?

Maybe some material (the same color and width) could be sewn by some type of upholstery place. If all the rest of the hardware was still in good shape.

Re: Rottler P69 Porting a Lima Head

Sorry that wasn't the video with the dimple finish, this YB head has the dimple finish, like a golf ball.

Re: Windshield Group Buy

Hello Ed, Great initiative. I would be interested in one. The challenge for me would be getting the windshield to my neck of the woods in Canada as well as arriving undamaged! :-) One shipping crate with 10 windshields or whatever, shipped to this place in Canada, then picked up by Fresh Air Inspec...

Re: Rottler P69 Porting a Lima Head

It's suppose to make it flow better, like the dimples on a golf ball.

Re: Power Steering Whistle

I've heard those high pitched noises before, usually a tensioner or idler pulley. Shoot a small amount of oil on them and see if the sound changes.

Re: Windshield Group Buy

Don't they have replacement Granada ones in Europe? Shipping would be nuts, but maybe if it was divided up between enough people it could work?

Re: Help with head gasket

You had me thinking I was doing it wrong all this time. Or that my code scanner worked differently. Guess not. Did you get any results?

Re: Day dreaming about a 4.0L in a Scorpio

Sounds like a lot of work for just a slight increase in hp. That new explorer is suppose to be 400hp. I wonder if that will get swapped into something in the next few years.

Re: Help with head gasket

I remember just plugging in the black tester to that port near the the battery. Then doing the test key on/off etc. The tester has a 9v battery so you don't hook up another wire for power like on some vehicles.

Re: Help with head gasket

This one from mac tools says 5% difference is normal. I would also think you need more pressure, like on this chart with 75/90/100 psi and holding some pressure after waiting a minute or two. Maybe you were not on the compression stroke? :beats head

Re: Help with head gasket

You are getting 145 psi across all cylinders with compression test so valves seem to be sealing. You are not quite in range on leak down test, less than 30% would be better, but after how long of a waiting period? Eventually the air will leak out. This one shows 40%-70% as "moderate". http...

Re: Help with head gasket

People have sold completely fine Merkurs because they thought the engine was toast, when it only needed the correct PCV. Use the Motorcraft one for sure. The leak down numbers sound good, 20% should be in the "good" range on the gauge. :D
