Re: Working on my oldest car

I hate this weather. I just got the last parts for my snowboard bindings in the mail yesterday, woke up all excited to see a few inches of snow today, now it is 34 degrees and raining.

Re: Always fight photo ticket

That youtube guy Scotty Kilmer did a video on a ticket he got in the mail. Texas made the cameras illegal but the company based in another state still sends out the tickets. I bet plenty of people still send in the money.

Re: Accuracy of fuel range indication

On my Moms Impreza I can get up to 45mph then reset the trip odometer and basically coast home. Going downhill a little and just barely touching the throttle. The display will read something like 80mpg when she gets in the car and pulls away. Pretty funny.

Re: Working on my oldest car

I think I know what car that bumper is from. Ya Mike hooked me up with those when I was buying a turbo or npr or something. That green car had regular (smooth style) bumpers then got real cossie rear and I believe cossie front replica painted to match. It was all done up with holset etc but I guess...

Re: installed HALLMAN Boost Controller but...

Should be a good one then if it's genuine. Here's a pic of a fake (sometimes they will print (not lazer etch) forge turbosmart etc. So if it ships from asia and is 20-30 bucks I'd be suspicious.

Re: Accuracy of fuel range indication

You could pump out all the fuel, even replace pump afterwards with a new one for reliability. Then fill it to the top at your favorite gas station (even the same pump number) as the reference point. See how much you are actually using versus what the computer says. I found you need to average it a f...

Control pack is no longer available. At least not though Ford like the crate engine itself. I like the idea of a lighter engine verses a heavier one.

Re: installed HALLMAN Boost Controller but...

Just noticed you said it was a Hallman. Just remember the name brand stuff like turbosmart or forge is expensive, so if it was 19.99 or something I would be suspect that it is real. Not sure if there are Hallman fakes out there but I wouldn't be surprised.

Re: installed HALLMAN Boost Controller but...

So i installed this boost controller just for fun, set the lowest setting possible (Screw counter clockwise out) but no luck it wants to give full boost, you think its toast or maybe needs repair, i do hear the check valve is loose inside as it should be :?: If the diaphragm on the turbo is bad you...

Re: Accuracy of fuel range indication

On my Toyota truck I have about 6 gallons left when the needle barely touches the E, and the low fuel light illuminates. I thought this was weird and read on the forums about it. I guess Toyota took the version with the lowest mpg (v6/4x4/extended cab) and designed it to get you 100 miles to a gas s...

Re: Battery dead, hood won't open - I'M STUCK

In all fairness to the car (which was almost 33 years old at the time) I don't think I would have had any problem if I noticed and repaired the little plastic thing at the end of the cable. Not sure if those are even available, maybe someone can start 3D printing these. Good to hear you can once aga...

Working on my oldest car

66 degrees today in NE Ohio. Pretty awesome to drive around, no salt on the road, get some gas, and finally put front ambers in this bumper. This 86 XR4Ti looks better than it has in the last 10 years or so, and starts right up even when it sits for months. Edit : 71 degrees in Akron Ohio breaks 189...
