Re: Fuel Gauge does not work

Best "how to" video I have seen in a while...

My guage doesn't work; so I will try this.

Can you post a video on removing the dash? LOL!

Re: Unibody/Fr Rusted through underneath along the driver's

I am in York PA. I am just west of York actually. I will have to get some pictures of it. The rust is along the frame rail.

I want to keep this car if possible.

I appreciate any guidance I can get with this.

Unibody/Fr Rusted through underneath along the driver's side

Finally got the car running right; and thought it would be a good time to finally get an inspection done. PA requires it. Took the car to my local shop; they started looking it over. I thought it would pass no problem; and things were going well. Then they put it up on the lift. The guy brings me ov...

Re: TFI Bolts One is out, one is stripped?

Long Story Short: I got the other bolt out using a different TFI tool. The first tool I bought from NAPA. It is a ratchet type with the 7/16 on one end and the hex on the other end. This worked for the first bolt, but for some reason, on the second bolt, it felt stripped. Enter ChinaZone: I was at A...

Re: TFI Bolts One is out, one is stripped?

I have a deep 7/32" socket, but it doesn't fit into the hole. I may have to remove the distributor, but I fear the timing procedure.

TFI Bolts One is out, one is stripped?

Guys, I am trying to remove my TFI. I have the tool. The bolt on the upper right of the module came out no problemo. The bolt on lower left, not so much. I put the tool in. If feels like it is on the head of the bolt. I turn, it slips. I can't see in there to tell if it is stripped at the head or ju...

Re: 86 XR. Too much heat and other features?

So far, I think the head is ok. No milk in the oil or anything, but I am keeping an eye on it. I think the heat sensor is original as it has a white ring. So, I will be changing that for sure.. I will also be getting a new TFI (From Merkur Depot I'm sure). For the guage sensor, Do I have to order th...

Hey! Good to see you! Those plates are in the mail. If you don't have them by Friday, be sure to give me a call. I actually have a tracking number someplace. I think I sent them to your folks place by accident tho.

BTW. I love the car!

Re: overheating and fan issues

Coo, I am fairly new, so take my advice as you will. However, I had the same problem on my XR and this is what I did to fix the fan problem. First, I removed the lower intake coolant line that is hooked up to the heat sensor and cleaned out the line as well as scrubbed in and at the bottom of the se...

New in York PA

Hello everyone. I am sort of new. I owned an 87 5 speed xr back in the late 90's. Always regretted selling it. Anyways, I am back. I bought an 86 Auto xr. So, if there is anyone near York PA, it would be cool to meet up sometime. I will post a picture soon. Does anyone know if there are good parts s...

I am also new (York PA). I just bought my second XR. It is an 86 (Auto) stock with a zillion miles on it. I was told that the tranny was re-done. It was love at first sight.

Re: Now available - the Search-able IMON archives

This is like a trip down memory lane! Funny Story: I just bought an 86 XR4TI (from ebay) and came back to this board today. I used to own a Merkur back in the late 90's and have missed it ever since I sold it! Anyway, I was part of this forum back then. If you go onto IMON archive and search "Marc A...
