Re: Post-Carlisle Survey - Your Input is Needed!!!

Did not attend. Don't think my car would have made it. Going to try to add a radiator fan or two and hopefully make it next year. Or get the other one running reliably...

Re: Outer Rear Beam Plate Bolts Loose

I saw that post when I originally searched which is why I originally started cutting under the seat. That is for the long bolt though, correct? My problem is just one short one on both sides of the car.

Re: Outer Rear Beam Plate Bolts Loose

The bolts never fully came out of the nuts. I just got them loose enough to swing the plate over for the beam to drop before the welds broke loose I guess.

Outer Rear Beam Plate Bolts Loose

When I took the rear beam out of my '87 to replace all of the bushings, the nuts holding both of the outer beam plate bolts (small ones) came loose from the body bracket. I tried using an impact to tighten them back up. That didn't work, so I started cutting a hole under the rear seat to access them...
Just a heads up, its best to check the time stamp when digging through old posts because LS2XR4 posted that on Tue Dec 28, 2010 2:17 pm. Although he was last online in February his last post was a year ago.
Yeah, I wasn't really expecting an answer right away. Thought he may have t...

Re: Doubts about the swap to a XR4i <GM V8 LS Swap>

but my tranny is so close to the firewall , that you are not gonna be pulling the tranny to do a clutch. you have to drop the whole sub frame and lift the car off the sub frame. Are you thinking the T5 would eliminate this or is that just the tunnel shaping? I'm looking into the swap, but I'm kind ...

Re: First Xr4ti

Wow, that's a lot. Hopefully it isn't something catastrophic like a block. Could be head gasket, valves, rings, assorted small leaks or problems. Change the filter yet? It could be completely blocked up like the turbo, though less likely.

Re: First Xr4ti

Hi all, Is it the merkurtech site that has the what to do to buy a used Merk page? It has great advice about what to do to an old car to update it for fluids and checks on what to look for as problems, I seem to recall. Anyone? As a side note on my own '86 car, I am now ready to do the underside su...

Re: First Xr4ti

Rock Auto is great but there are discrepancies depending on what you're looking for. Bushings, bearings, pcv, and some gaskets (especially valve cover) is best to order through our vendors. A lot of stuff can be upgraded for the same price as stock replacements if you do a little research before beg...

Re: First Xr4ti

Welcome! Are you noticing blue smoke or are you just losing oil? The valve cover and sometimes the filter adapter are common oil leaks. If you're burning, I would suspect valves before rings. If you notice any vibrations, rough or odd steering, or a LOT of noise, then your bushings (especially outer...

Re: Interior Work

I did get the aluminum angle from Home Depot, I'm sure I paid more that way but it was convenient. There are a lot of different types of adhesives available in that aisle from Liquid Nails, Loctite, Gorilla, etc. I'm sure one of them would work. I will try to look at my tube tomorrow and see if it s...

Re: Best way to change the O2 sensor?

Probably will want PB Blaster or something stronger than WD-40 but other than that, sounds like you've got it. Try it without heat first, hopefully you won't need it.

Re: Interior Work

All right, I also didn't take any pictures of me actually doing it, but as DAReese said, you just cut it, lay it, and roll it. I also didn't go very far up the firewall and only did what I could through the bottom holes in the doors. The Dynamat was significantly easier to install than the Noico. I ...
