Re: XR & Memorabilia AUCTION

I haven't done a ton of research, but clean XR4s seem to hold some value in the UK, with Cosworth's @ a 4-8x multiple. I paid good money for mine as have a few others. These two just ended up in the wrong venue. IMO, they would've done way better on Ebay. Some of the best money I've seen for an XR ...

Re: XR & Memorabilia AUCTION

I paid $900. So guess Mariana Trench level over here. Well, it seems they're all relatively cheap no matter how good. It's got me thinking... as cheap as these cars are, I may yet revive my original 2015 idea of making a Sierra Cosworth. Not using my car (I would keep on doing what I do with it) or...

Re: XR & Memorabilia AUCTION

Wow, either those cars had declined some or the buyer got a HUGE bargain. Biggest bargains ever. I looked the the other stuff in the auction. IMO, it's a bit too high-falutin a place to sell a Merkur. IMO, BAT is the place where one goes to sell an oddball car. Could try to sell it here, but this p...

Re: WTB - 1988 XR4Ti - Black Preferred

From what I can gather, a roadworthy XR4Ti, with some quirks, can be had for 5000 or less depending on condition? Great low mileage examples push north of that? I think so. $5K shouldn't really have too many quirks. There's a great example going across the block today, so we'll see how much it gets.

Re: Light scraping/grinding noise, not speed proportional

All I can say is mine doesn't make any noises like that. It hates going 55, hunts for gears like crazy. Fortunately that's not the speed limit now... it would not have been tolerable back in the day. Mine shifts just fine, doesn't hunt, but it hates going 30mph. It's almost impossible. It's natural...

Re: Light scraping/grinding noise, not speed proportional

The gear hunting may indicate the downshift cable is improperly adjusted. YMMV How difficult is the adjustment? I get my routine maintenance done in the spring. I can have my mechanic look at it. Per the Service Manual it's straightforward (do you have the S.M.?). YMMV. I have Mike's CD just in cas...

Re: XR featured on Wheelers Dealers this season

I love this show! Gonna be interesting to see what road they take on the XR. That said, who gets sort of tweaked that no matter what they do or how much they make, they NEVER consider the price of the labor hours involved in repairing/modding a car? I kind of "justify" it by believing that they are...

Re: XR featured on Wheelers Dealers this season

I heard about this Saturday. This is one of my favorite shows so this is very exciting! Questions... 1. Will they mod it or return it to stock? 2. Will they be able to turn a profit on it? 3. Has Mike Brewer showed up at Mike or Jeff's places of business looking for parts? I guess Rapido is closer, ...
