I have some wood strips that I'm going to paint red that will hold them in place.

Not at a car show, but out and about on Feb 7, which is pretty much unheard of in these parts.
The building in the background is a former Lincoln-Mercury-Merkur dealership.

And that was all it had.
Seller should definitely regret not putting those parts on the car.
IMO, a small amount of work would've yielded a multi-thousand dollar return.

Now someone will finish it (I'd have a mechanic go over the whole car at the same time) and have a really nice XR.
