Sometime over the past year, both the Scorpio's outboard halfshaft boots were sliced all the way around. Aside from fighting with the torx bolts, can I expect some complications to removing the halfshaft? If any of you has done this job before please offer any insight and advice that you can.
Thanks

As much as I didn't want to, I finally turned the scorpio over to an automatic transmission mechanic. He rebuilt it for $1920. Not the cheapest ever but i have certainly heard of worse. He said water (coolant) got into the system and burned up all of my bands pretty bad. Several months ago I disconn...

Well the motor was not overly nasty inside, but i am sure the cleaning and regreasing didn't hurt anything. When I reinstalled the motor, I grounded out the housing, and viola...medium and high work again. Still no intermittent front or back. I tested the terminals that the front's relay plugs into ...

I hate to be the one to steer the thread back to the topic addressed in the subject and away from CLR religions, but no one has brought up the klunk sound when the ignition is placed in position II as a diagnosis of little to no heat. IIRC, that thunk in the dash is a vane that controls air movement...

Like I said I was just throwing it out there. it seem extremely unlikely that you found a totally different type of Scorpio shaft that no one has ever heard of, so i was merely suggesting another possibility...see, my scorpio is coming back from the shop tomorrow (and the manual is in the car) so i ...

Forgive me for barging into this thread and potentially speaking out of near total ignorance and noninformation, but when i had my XR, and I was doing something or other under the dash, I got a fancy little angled shot of the steering shaft from the wheel to the floorboard, and I cannot help but rem...

Yeah, I had to do that for the driver's side passenger window motor, but I just can't get past the fact that both front and back intermittent went out at the same time. There are two relays...one for the front intermittent and one for the back. What about medium and high settings? does the same fron...

Windshield Wiper Motor Ground
Several Months ago, my front intermittent windshield wiper function and the rear wiper went out. I was not too concerned because the medium and high settings still worked for the front wipers, and the defogger usually kept the back window clear. Now the windshield wipers have totally stopped working...

Ok, before I say something potentially stupid like T9's suck and are worth less than dirt, let me approach this logically. The XR that I used to own had a T9 in it when I bought it and it crapped out not long thereafter. Of course it had been going quite a while with that T9, but I was not impressed...

Yes I read this post also already. I have basically learned from our British scorpio guys that 2wd V6 MT75's, or cosworth T5 bellhousings are very rare. The most feasable solution to me putting in a manual tranny is to fit is with a moddified Ranger bellhousing (since those are designed for a hydrau...

I still have not determined what is wrong with my automatic tranny. (see http://www.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6279 ) I will try to get it to a tranny shop tomorrow and let them figure out what it is. Aside from the fact that I do not like automatics, if this shop tells me that my transmis...
