Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

I was watching "Wheeler Dealers" S15:E14 "1970 VW hatchback" this evening and I see that the VW used a similar fastening setup as the Scorpio with the sheet metal spikes on the base of the seat back where you pull the front and rear sections of the covering over the sheet metal spikes. You then bend...

Re: 11" Brake Rotor

Lost interest again.. I'm back to the question of "Is the stock Scorpio braking really so bad?" Re-drilling rotors? It's just not worth the trouble...effort better spent elsewhere.. Your talking about a rotor size change 9.95 to 10.7? How much does that get you? An extra 3/8" around the perimeter? I...

Re: Ash receptacle

Never mind. I wasn't looking to buy. Found the right position thanks to the Shop Manual. This book proved its worth over and over again. Moving on to next phase, but must admit working on Scorpio is sort of a purgatory for the weary owner. Most folks don't realize that the original screen play for ...

Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

I thought I would provide some links to the heated seat kit I used...these are from aliexpress.com https://tinyurl.com/ycmcrv7h https://tinyurl.com/ybuwq78e Or just search aliexpress.com for "heated seat kit" and find one that has the same adjustable switch which we now know fits in the Scorpio cent...

Re: Re-upholstering the center console lid...

No, these seats are original. FWIW, the car was from Portland Oregon. I think that had something to do with the preservation of the leather and maybe it was garage kept as well. But I have seen better leather in other Scorpios besides mine. Original Scorpio leather was soft and supple. Mine has hard...

Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

Yeah, I don't think I would re-use the old stuff. And thanks for your consideration. It actually takes a bunch of time to document this stuff. I do hope it will help and inspire others. One more thing... You're all going to hate me though, because I can't remember where I got these. But they are the...

Re: Re-upholstering the center console lid...

Here you can see how with the extra material along the seam you can first staple the leather together so as to hold it together nicely so that it can be easily sewn together. You then cut the extra off after the sewing is completed.

Re-upholstering the center console lid...

As part of my lumbar project here: http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=36128 I was fiddling around with my center console and started to get irritated by the dried cracked leather on the console lid/arm rest. So...off it came.. I had mentioned previously I had a small stash of rav...

Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

So there you have it. I would say at this point I am no longer apprehensive about pulling out the seats and dismantling in the future. If you just need access to the bladders in the seat back it is pretty easy. I somewhat tested the operation of the heated seats. I put the passenger seat in and I co...

Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

Hey! Who cleaned up the floor!!? Here you can see the wiring coming down from the center console. The side walls of the center console flex so you can scoot the wire/connectors through easily. Open the arm rest compartment and remove the two forward screws and you can lift up the center section to g...

Re: Scorpio Lumbar Replacement?

Here is the seat kit. i think is was an email special from Banggood.com ($23 as I recall), but I don't see this particular kit with the adjustable switch on their site anymore. I have seen this kit on Aliexpress though. It came with no instructions. Google Search "Heated seat kit instructions manual...
