Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

The alternative sensor under investigation is from a 2000-2006 Ford Transit. I bought three from Banggood.com and I think they are now out of them https://www.banggood.com/ABS-Wheel-Speed-Sensor-Front-Left-Right-Black-for-FORD-TRANSIT-2000-2006-4042001-p-1017849.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN Y...

Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

Did the test fit today.. If it were not for the connector I would say that this sensor is practically a "drop in". The cylinder lengths are very close. I can mount the new sensor in the hole and spin the hub and I don't detect any interference. However, I measure the length from the base of the cyli...

Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

No problem. I'm going to try a test fit on the car tommorrow. I am optimistic the mounting bolt hole will be "close enough". I found the following regarding testing. This is from "Debuging the Milano ABS" (Teves) "Check the speed wheel clearance using a brass feeler since the pickup is magnetic and ...

Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

Bingo! I think we have a winner... http://i67.tinypic.com/30urgbb.jpg The height of the cylinder is a little longer at 27mm. But a 3mm spacer can easily be made to take care of this. Ed, check the center to center distance. (Center of center of cylinder to center of mounting hole) Next step is to in...

Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

Does anybody have a spare front ABS sensor for a Scorpio on the shelf that they can measure for me?

I need the diameter and height of the "cylindrical portion" that goes into the hub.

I think I may have found an inexpensive substitute.

Re: "A/C electric fan on when A/C Clutch on"

I don't recommend removing the clutch fan and switching to electric fans...unless you have upgraded the alternator.

Re: "A/C electric fan on when A/C Clutch on"

Below is the post from the IMON archives... But i think I can explain better if I mark up the schematic from the manual. I strongly recommend that you remove the original condenser electric fan and install one of these... https://www.ebay.com/itm/14-inch-Universal-Slim-Fan-Push-Pull-Electric-Radiato...

Seat Dismantling

Anyone ever take apart the front leather seats to fix a leaking lumbar bladder (or install heated seat elements) ? I bought this kit and I intend to install soon... https://us.banggood.com/Wholesale-Warehouse-2-Seats-Universal-Carbon-Fiber-Heated-Seat-Heater-12V-Pads-2-Dial-wp-Usa-965450.html?rmmds=...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

I''ll agree to that. Running the fan on Hi is irritating on the Scorpio.

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

I was driving home today on my normal commute. I took a snap shot below. I'm getting plenty cold - its around 36-40F at the vent. But of course it was only 70F outside... ...and this got me thinking further about the de-ice sensor mod....and why I don't think it is worth the trouble. For argument le...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

I've been running R-134 for the past 3 years and it performs fine. Running the electric fan with the compressor helps. I get vent temps at or below 40F. I'd rather have the cheap and easy availibility of R-134 instead of chasing down $25 cans of R-12. The only issue I find is that it tends to leak o...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

Well - I've done the mod Ed. 20 years ago. I know what it is about. I wouldn't worry about the icing as I would be about the head pressures and strain on the compressor. Especially if you are running R-134. I would also not do the mod unless you have done the other mod where the electric fan turns o...

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

All I can say is if you decide to do this mod - don't go lower than ~38 at the vent.
If you do it. Do it so that you can "switch out" the 1.4 megohms in parallel with the thermistor from the driver's position.
That way if anything goes wrong you are instantly back to stock.

Are you running R-12 Ed?

Re: Improving Scorpio A/C Performance

One of the issues with the Scorpio in the Summer is when stuck is stagnant traffic, the Scorpio A/C sucks. Once you are moving it is OK. So - on my current Scorpio I've done the mod to run the fan whenever the compressor is running. However I find you can't do this reliably with the stock fan, it dr...
