Re: SCORPIO VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR

The original speed sensor design is prone to failure. A somewhat recent discussion of the Vss options are described here... http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=32548 On page two of that discussion I describe how to adapt the reluctor based speed sensor from the Ranger... I used ST...

Re: Best Valve Cover Gasket

A difference is that to my awareness that Felpro gasket had not been mentioned or recommended here or elsewhere as the solution, which should have been likely given the commonality of seeping Scorpio VC gaskets. YMMV I thought everybody knew about them. When I bought my Scorpio back in late 2015, t...

They seem to offer a lot of these "problem solver" solutions.

Re: Form Labs 3D Printer

Yes, I would say polyurethane was the clincher for me as well. Generally it is 80-90 durometer. You can print it "solid" or you can print it with lighter infill to mimic softer durometers. I've not noticed any noxious odors while printing polyurethane. ABS is a little nasty. I don't think it is cost...

Re: Best Smog Test Stories...I know you have them

What blew me away back in the 90s in Pennsylvania was... The gov't told all the inspection stations to buy these very expensive rolling dynos and emissions testing gear. If you had a 4wd car or truck/suv then they could not be put on the rolling dyno. So these vehicles were only tested at idle. That...

Re: Form Labs 3D Printer

It's high time to get yourself a 3d printer. The cost of these has drastically dropped. They are at that level where laser printers were back in the early 90's Like these.. https://www.gearbest.com/3d-printer-_gear/ I find the ability to print polyurethane is particularly useful for automotive repai...

Re: Oil pan removal.

Here is the timing chain replacement procedure that encompasses the removal of the oil pan. This is for the later post 1990 Euro 2.9L Scorpios but I think it is much the same. There are some good step by step visuals as well as the cross bar I mentioned. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/1...

Re: Oil pan removal.

I thought the procedure was to use one of those cross bars across the engine bay to lift the engine.
