Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

Connector and bearing arrived and installed. I think I will test this out by connecting to a spare battery I have here and then spin it with a drill. I'll simulate the dash bulb circuit of the Scorpio and confirm that the alternator is working, bulb goes out, measure voltage, etc... Safer than exper...

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender

Forget the one from RockAuto or the Bronco. Scorpio is special and RockAuto is wrong. The only problem with the stock sensor is that it will eventually fail again. So you might want to order two of them. The reason they fail is because they sink a lot of current. The thermistor material inside the s...

Re: Scorpio ABS sensor substitution

What do you mean Bob? Connectors to these sensors are different. They need to be adapted. I bought some weather sealed two teminal connectors from ebay that I think i will use. Like these https://tinyurl.com/y2fm5f2c These units appear to be much longer than the Scorpio's and can be cut to length. S...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

My 2004 Titan alternator has arrived. This is the 130 amp unit with the "straight grills". There was a little snaffu. The guy shipped the first one and it ended up somewhere in western PA. He sent me another. This one had 91k miles instead of 71k. Still looks good. I opened up the unit and the brush...

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions

Doesn't make any sense... If your putting on the Eaton M62 Supercharger, then what would you want the Scorpio intake for?

I'll believe the Eaton on the 2.9 when i see it. It's not bolt on - You need to start welding up some aluminum and cranking up the Bridgeport before you even get close.

Re: Scorpio Euro Headlight Wiring

No mention of violation of federal regulations on headlamp lumens/intensity/etc because they didn't. But they claimed that they were brighter than standard, and they weren't. If they were then they would not be able to sell them in all the big box stores. I wish I had a nickle for every time I saw a...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

The shaft size for both alternators is 17mm, BUT the Mitsu' alternator off the Infiniti has a very short shaft which requires a pulley which is offset into the body of the case. If I slide the stock Scorpio pulley onto the shaft, no threads are left exposed at all. Maybe a V-belt pulley off some 80...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

I bought this 04' Titan unit for $40. Most of the cheap ones on ebay are high mileage >100k. This one only has 71K.
I'll keep you posted.

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

What'd I tell ya! You do the research up front and it's a drop in... What's the pulley swap'n looking like? Were you able to get the plug with it? Oh wait I see you got one of those in the earlier post... I'll guess I'll pull the trigger on one now :) More compact and puts out many more amps than th...

Re: Scorpio Euro Headlight Wiring

None of the cleverly marketed bulbs like Silverstars, etc offer any improvement. They might have a color temperature that is different but that is about it. The reason anybody claims that they are brighter than what they had previously is because halogen bulbs degrade over time. So a fresh standard ...

Re: Scorpio / Sierra plenum and throttle body parts / questions

I don't know what you are expecting to get out of this. There is little advantage to be gained. I guess first and foremost is that the Ranger is mass air flow and the Scorpio is speed density. So somehow you have to run through your stock single port mass airflow sensor and then split into the dual ...

Re: Scorpio Euro Headlight Wiring

I have the low end Euro lights. So my "inner lights" are not present. They are just reflectors. I installed some high performance H4 bulbs. The city lights I just connected to the running lights. I have also since installed clear corner lights. I have considered installing 100w fog lamp bulbs - in t...
