Re: 88 Scorpio
"You can call it a guibo, but to be correct it is a giubo." No, both forms are correct (as my google investigation demonstrates) and in our neck of the woods "guibo" is the more accepted and dominant version (as my IMON archive search demonstrates). The fact that Google AI search...

Re: 88 Scorpio
Ed, you can tell everybody the proper English spelling is "colour". But nobody gives a dang.

Re: 88 Scorpio
If I punch "guibo" into google, and it responds with the proper description (and does not correct my spelling BTW), then it it good enough for me...and probably good enough for everyone else...except Ed. FWIW - A text search for "guibo" through all the old IMON email listings bri...

Re: 88 Scorpio
Two things to replace; each likely original equipped items on ymthis Scorpio: -- transmission mount -- giubo/flex joint Each typically needs replacement after ~75K miles. My first Scorpio had a bad trans mount @ 80K miles. It seemed like there was a previous oil leak that softened the mount and it ...

Re: 88 Scorpio
The new universal pump kits come with filter screens. In some cases multiple screens of different geometry. I would not re-use the old screens. There is not much particulate crud, but if there is a break in the screen (as shown in more than one place in the previous photos) then who knows what was s...

Workmate looks like this one.

I don't know why UK/Europe uses bubble flares. Wish they were the same everywhere.

Re: 88 Scorpio
I broke down and bought one of these to flare the brake lines on the Triumph I am restoring: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165996112065 It is more expensive now, but at the time I paid about $80 for it. It is intended to be mounted on a work bench. But I was able to clamp it in a Black and Decker Workmat...

Re: 88 Scorpio
I'm excited. I am also envious as I suspect you have a well heated garage to work in. The congealed hose makes me wonder when I will have to tackle this job. I am also around 90K miles. Certainly age has much to do about this but rubber often deteriorates with exposure to oxygen in the air. Or is it...

What are you talking about? Is it not the case that the pump was not working and needed to be pulled out?Ed Lijewski wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 11:07 am I love/LOVE it when the stale old and easy predictions by lazy diagnosticians and their proscriptions (stale gas/crud in the tank pump/drop the tank) prove to be wrong.
