Re: Seat Dismantling

Years ago I dismantled a XR seat to repair the seat heater. The Scorpio seat looks like it might be more challenging - especially the seat-back. The inflatable bladders all fail, but I don't know that I've heard anyone describe exactly HOW they fail and what the fix might be. In summary, please repo...

Re: Differential Front seal

Since there is no drain plug, the fluid is removed by removing the back cover. To remove the back cover, the rear mount needs to be removed, which is more readily done with the fuel tank cover out of the way. By that point you might just as well remove the whole differential and make life easier. Wh...

No high idle, but here's today's codes - new ones w/ descriptions 21 24 Intake Air Temperature (IAT) or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range 41 52 67 Park/Neutral circuit fault (Maybe because it was in gear?) Anyone know if like the XR harness there is a merged ground connection for the se...

Re: Liftgate Release (Hatch lock) failure trouble-shooting

I've had this problem from Day 1, though it's an earlier Scorpio. I don't have a button to release the trunk from the interior. AFAIK, it's switched with the door key. Where would the trunk switch be located on the later models? Nothing has changed in how the circuit works. The MANUAL changed in ho...

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle

Did u open the wiring harness? Funny enough, I was just talking to Darren about that tonight. I have not yet opened up the harness, but indeed Darren did, and made a repair on the ECT circuit. He had already replaced the sensor itself, so doubtful that's the problem. I'll be investigating further. ...

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle

KOEO Error codes pulled today...

21 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range
41 System was lean for 15 seconds or more (no HO2S switching)
52 Power Steering Pressure Switch/circuit open

21 and 41 could be related. I guess I'll replace the ECT.

52 I'm not worried about

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Conversion

I wish there were yards here that we could really go to and wander. There are a few, but an hour one way for me The closest U-Pull-It for me is 1.5 hours each way, and that's a smaller one. The ones I prefer are about 2 hours away. So if I go, I make a day of it. Bonus points for them changing to S...

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Conversion

Lots of links out there about modifying the Saginaw pump for pressure and/or volume. Here's one... http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/2013/powersteeringmods/ Alternatively, you don't actually have to make the modifications yourself, but can just raid pumps at the junkyard for the different spec ...

Re: IAC Issues, Scorp and XR, Maybe the "EEC-IV CHIEF" Knows How To Resolve?

A small data-point I'll add... I had this issue on my 2.3 when I was using a stock 2.3T (PF3 or LA3) PCM, but when I changed to a later, early 90's Mustang PCM (D1L1), the problem disappeared and never returned. Perhaps the factory calibration took into account this potential common problem and figu...
