Re: Did 1989 XR4TI solve the previous dash and head issues?

Although the big change in the dash was mid-1987 (when the center speaker went away), there were several less obvious changes in the dash over the car's 5-year life. The last change was mid-89 where the A-pillar trim is inset into the dash. As a result, to look right you need the matching trim panel...

Re: Post-Carlisle Survey - Your Input is Needed!!!

8. Although I understand that Carlisle is perhaps the closest venue for the largest number of members, it would be nice to see some MCA-sponsored events in other regions; I know that the Fabulous Fords Forever event in Anaheim is something I could realistically attend, and there are also large conc...

3. Don't remember where we stayed in '04 and '05, but that was nice-- offered in re other comments here on the current venue.
Hotel Carlisle. Take a look at this video (or just a portion of it) and you may want to rescind your recommendation.

Re: Post-Carlisle Survey - Your Input is Needed!!!

Thanks for the feedback Ron & Robert. Myself and others noticed a decline in the Radisson this year. I would need some assurances that things will improve next year before I'd sign us back up for 2020. The challenge is that the back parking lot area at the Radisson is ideally suited for us (for seve...

Re: Post-Carlisle Survey - Your Input is Needed!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Please keep it coming. I've investigated several food trucks and a lot of them have a $1000 minimum, which we don't usually hit. The two big positives with ShreddRRz is their ability to deliver meals quickly and the fact that they are easy to work with. As for the scenic bac...

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Conversion

The pump passed it's 500-mile test last week with flying colors. I was a little apprehensive about using a 3/8" barbed fitting to "create" a hybrid hi-pressure hose, but it has not leaked at all - bone dry on either side of the fitting. Maybe some day I'll have a hydraulic hose shop make up a hose, ...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

Here's some different pulleys with dimensional drawings. Most of the descriptions list the application for junkyard sourcing https://store.alternatorparts.com/17mm.aspx Good link - thanks! Just taking a quick look, this one looks the most promising... # 2481103 - 1-Groove Pulley For Hitachi Type Al...

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

The shaft size for both alternators is 17mm, BUT the Mitsu' alternator off the Infiniti has a very short shaft which requires a pulley which is offset into the body of the case. If I slide the stock Scorpio pulley onto the shaft, no threads are left exposed at all. Maybe a V-belt pulley off some 80'...

Post-Carlisle Survey - Your Input is Needed!!!

It's been a couple years since I've done one of these, so I thought it was time to again solicit some feedback. If you attended (or even if you didn't), please take a moment to provide some feedback. That's the only way we can make next year better. You can answer any or all questions. Thanks, Brad ...

What's the pulley swap'n looking like?
I haven't yet zapped the big nut off with the impact gun to see what size shaft we're dealing with. It's on the to-do list.

Re: Alternate Alternator Upgrade

Just as I have for at least the past 100 years, I stopped at the junkyard on the way to Carlisle this past Thursday. To my good fortune, someone was pulling the engine from a 2005 Infiniti G35 and did not want the stock Mitsubishi alternator. Here's how it looks compared to the stock Bosch alternato...

Re: Saginaw Power Steering Pump Conversion

I've put about 40 miles on the car, which I'm calling "good enough" for the upcoming 500-mile test. The pump is all but silent, even under low-speed turning maneuvers. I'm happy with the final results.

Re: XR vs. Scorpio Inner Tie Rods

But...as Scorp inners are NLA, is there enough threaded length on XR inners for them to work installed on a Scorp (iffy but maybe possible?). That is precisely why Mike said... "You do not want XR inner tie rods on your Scorpio, its pretty dangerous!" Maybe if you want a whole bunch of toe-in it mi...
