TWO months to go!
Carlisle shows up a little earlier this year, and that means we've got just two months to go until the big event! Have you registered for the show yet? Have you made your hotel reservation yet? Have you renewed your MCA membership yet? Good news - answers to on how to do all of the above can be foun...

Under-hood space for engine swap - XR Vs. Scorpio
I've sometimes wondered which engine bay is more spacious, from an vertical standpoint. So today I tried to figure out. Using the top of the steering rack as the bottom, I come up with: Scorpio 23.25" XR4Ti 23.75" These were tape-measure jobs, so not entirely exact, but I tried to be accur...

Re: Alternator bracket options for XR ưithout AC or power steering
Pinto bracket is the typical option. Conveniently enough, I happen to be selling one.

For the DG 8.8 swap? No. They're all installed in my car.

Re: No adapter Big Brakes
I think I've covered this in another thread but I don't see it mentioned here so I'll add it. For those of you running 5x112 Scorpio hubs (either on a Scorpio or converted XR), you can easily use 2012+ Ford Focus 11" rotors which have a 5x108 bolt pattern. All you need to do is bore the 5 lug h...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
For me, I still want it boosted. Trying to determine how to do all that as well without a complete rebuild. Wondering if a 2.0 ecoboost, or your method mentioned here and then boosting it is better approach. The nice thing about the factory N/A 2.5 long-block is that it can much more readily take b...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
Time for a little data-point.... If you're looking at doing a 2.5 swap, the most common donor is the 2013 - 2020 Ford Fusion. Millions of them were produced and the engines pretty much last forever, so there's not much demand. You may recall from economics class, large supply, little demand equals s...

Re: Need some tire thoughts
What sort of springs do you have in the car? Why do I ask? If stock mushy springs, you'll have a great chance of tire-wheel lip conflict if you start going with larger and wider tires. On my car, which is raised from stock height with stiffer springs, I have no such concerns. I have 16x215/50 in fro...

FS: NOS Gabriel Front Struts $100
Nothing fancy - stock type strut made by Gabriel - OEM supplier to Ford/Motorcraft. No longer available from Motorcraft or Gabriel The bump stop and boot are from an old strut but the strut itself is new and never installed. DG 8.8 Rear Anti-Rollbar Mounting Brackets
Probably the only time you'll find this listed separately, it's the custom-fabricated anti-rollbar mounts designed to work with the David Godfrey 8.8 rear-end assembly. I got them from DG about 15 years ago and have finally decided I'll never get around to using his anti-rollbar setup. $95 DG-Sway-1...

I suspect the line that runs from the gas tank to the charcoal canister in the engine bay has cracked.

Re: Sudden Intermittent High Idle
Took the Scorpio in for it's annual inspection this morning. About a mile out, I briefly had the car in neutral and noticed the idle was ~2200 RPM. I was on a straight downhill so I decided it was time for a rolling test... Shut the engine off and immediately re-started - idle calmed right down to ~...

Thingaverse / Printables Downloads for 3D Printing Plastic Parts
As 3D printers now enter the sub $300 price range, it's becoming all the more common for the hobbyist to own one for casual use. I'm sure this link will get dated quickly, but here's an article discussing the best budget 3D printers... https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/best-budget-3d-printer/ We'r...
