Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
For someone wanting to do a super low-budget N/A Duratec swap, here's an option I stumbled across... You can run the 2005-2006 Ford Ranger 2.3 ECU stock (no anti-theft for those 2 years only), I did this in my buggy with a $200 Focus 2.0L longblock. It ran great, but I was using Ranger parts attache...

Re: T-9 Speedo Driven Gear
I will confirm that. A4LD US = A4LD EU/UK Various alternate tooth count gears are readily available for the A4LD. Thanks for confirming Dean. So it's just the T-9 that has the availability challenges for the speedo gear. I'm assuming that the aforementioned adapter circuit would work the same with ...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
Several posts back I posted up the China-cheap intake manifold designed for RWD applications that will work with the 2.0, 2.3, or 2.5. From what I read today, that manifold doesn't work so great on a street car, as it's optimized for maximum high-RPM flow. Here's a couple pricey alternatives that se...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
But wait, there's more! In Brazil and other places across the world, the Ranger lives on as a RWD small truck, now powered by (among other things), the Duratec 2.5. Stumbled across this project thread where someone swapped a 2.5 from a Fusion into a 2001 Ranger which originally had the 2.3 Duratec....

Re: T-9 Speedo Driven Gear
I believe our A4LD takes the same spec speedo gears as the USA A4LD, but I'm not certain. Perhaps someone can verify.

Re: T-9 Speedo Driven Gear
I looked in the shop manual, two gear sizes, 15 tooth for manual and 17 tooth for automatic.....my speedo reads 5 mph faster than actual speed according to road side radar...any source for them??? Do you have a T-9 or A4LD? I believe the A4LD uses the common speedo gears readily found in the States...

Re: Adjustable quadrant, firewall and cable question!
Yes mustang cable! It has the aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster. The cable seems to be routed fine as well. I'm hoping it's just the end of the cable I need to fine tune. What would adjusting the firewall adjuster do? No idea. I can only assume the firewall adjuster is one designed for a M...

Re: Adjustable quadrant, firewall and cable question!
Ok awesome. It has a Ford Motorsport cable on it so I can tighten it up at the bottom. Thanks! I'll give that a shot sometime this week. Probably a Mustang spec cable then. That's what I run, also with the adjustable fitting on the bottom end to adjust the length. How is the fitment through the fir...

Re: Carbon Fiber driveshafts?
What's interesting is that carbon fiber's benefits hit both ends of the spectrum. When used in production vehicles, especially trucks, the benefit is in reducing NVH due to the composite shaft being able to dampen vibration better than Steel or AL. On the high end, the weight advantage is something,...

But wait, there's more! Starting in 2013, in Brazil, Mexico, and other places across the world, the Ranger lived on as a RWD small truck, now powered by (among other things), the Duratec 2.5. It's typically called the Duratec 25 there. Massive Speed imports the factory intake manifold for this engin...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
I need to correct myself a bit. I just learned that the intake manifold of the EcoBoost versions of the Duratec have a different bolt pattern than the N/A engines. This means that you can NOT just slap an EcoBoost 2.3 intake manifold on a N/A Duratec head, be it 2.0, 2.3, or 2.5. I'm assuming that t...

Re: Adjustable quadrant, firewall and cable question!
I looked around the pedal assembly last night after work and I'm not sure what I'm looking at for adjustments. I'll check the service manual out later as that silver jam nut is just loose and unsure what it controls. Don't bother with the FSM. You have a Godfrey adjuster. That's a good thing. It wo...
