Steel Bearing Retainer now available for 3.97 WC T5
Over the years many of us have used the WC T5 from the '87 - '93 2.3 Mustang when doing T-5 swaps on a XR. With appropriate rear-end gearing, it's not a bad solution. One of the challenges of this gearbox has been that it uses a different bearing retainer than the other (3.50, 3.35, 2.95) T5's. The ...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.0 / 2.3 / 2.5 Swap
I had been under the impression that all the 2005-2011 2.0 Focus engines were the same, but it appears that may not be the case, as outlined here: https://sbdmotorsport.co.uk/product/duratec-cylinder-head-information-duratec-cylinder-head-information/ In short, the 2008+ heads have a high-port desi...

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts - TFI to EDIS Conversion
A very specific post relating to what happens with the 6 circuits snipped from the existing TFI connector. Pin 1 TFI PIP (Blue/Y) to Pin 9 EDIS PIP (EEC4 pin 56) Pin 2 TFI SPOUT (Blue/R) to Pin 3 EDIS SAW (EEC4 pin 36) Pin 3 TFI Ign Start (Black/Gn) (cap off - not used by EDIS) Pin 4 TFI Run (Black)...

One post where I'll dump a bunch of reference links relating to EDIS and TFI to EDIS conversions...

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts
It's a big project but it should be interesting. I'm taking my time and re-reviewing my plan of attack. Keeping it simple, here's what EDIS looks like. This is a for an 8-cyl setup with 2 coil-packs, but it's pretty much the same for a 6-cyl; just some different pin-outs from the EDIS module. EDIS_...

Re: Battery group size
What battery and from where did you buy it? $25 used battery pile at EZ Pull & Save. I think it's a Die Hard Gold. It had a 7/21 date on it and tested at 12.x volts, so I nabbed it. I would have first grabbed an AGM for the same $25 if available, second an EverStart Max, this was "door 3&q...

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts
I'll try to come back and add a picture to this thread, but here's the pieces I've acquired: 65mm Mustang TB and custom adapter to Scorpio intake plenum (Optional - could probably do this swap with the factory TB) Oil drive "dummy" plug (replaces distributor) Original type crank V-pulley w...

Re: Why does the Left-rear caliper fail rather than the Right?
The answer(s) are here: An interesting theory. It could also explain why the left rear wheel-well lip tends to rust out ahead of the right. I'm not so sure I buy it though. If anything I'd think there might be more salt piled up in the slush on the right side of the road as the crown of the road gr...

Just a little (but important) data-point... 1990-94 Ranger 4L uses 18.3 PPH injectors

Since I've got my harness rebuilt for EV6 injectors, I've sourced 18.1PPH injectors from a 2003 Expedition.

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts
Uh-Oh - Played my hand. Got to get to "Pick-a-Part Home of Junkyard Barbie" before Brad does! Nah, too small of a yard. Plus, too densely populated down that way and thus too much potential for traffic. In addition to parts, I came home with two dozen farm-fresh eggs the other day. :D

No, never been to that one. But if you go to EZ Pull you will not find an EDIS6 module.brokencase wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 6:27 pm Does that mean if I go to the Pick-a-Part Home of Junkyard Barbie that I won't find any Cologne v-6 stuff because Brad took everything already?

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts
Brad - You must have a nice junkyard nearby where you can gather an explore all the possibilities. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to one. I WISH the junkyard was only 40 minutes away! The good ones I go to are in PA and 2 hours away, so I make a day of it. I believe I now have everything I need ...

Re: Making the Cologne 2.9 Distributor-less using 4L OHV parts
Confirmed that the 4L EEC-IV oil-drive plug fits fine as-is in the 2.9. Both the "dummy" version as well as the cam sensor version fit. The EEC-V version is a little bigger and interferes with the lower intake manifold. That can probably be remedied, but I won't need to bother (don't need ...

The car was sold and I believe re-powered with a V8. I've only gotten a few of the bits from it.andyofcolumbusmerkur wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 11:35 am So the car was never completed and the engine is at Brad"s now? Or did it get some other power plant?

Re: Scorpio V2.0 has arrived : )
Thanks for posting these pics Dean. I'm a little surprised how far back the shifter needed to be re-located. I'm guessing it was further back from factory location when all was done and said.
The one question I have is how was it re-sealed where the freeze plug was cut open.
