Source for replacement head
Well, my 89 XR race car cracked it's head. :( So, now I am looking for a source for an appropriate head that will suit a race car. Outside of rummaging through a junkyard, I am trying to quickly get it installed before I move across the country in a month. Going through the places on the home page, ...

Re: Determining the correct Octane
I'm dubious that one could derive octane requirements simply from compression ratio. Tendency for knock is going be driven by overall compression ratio, but you also need to factor in injector geometry, intake temps, ignition angle, and surely quench area when understanding an engine's resistance t...

Determining the correct Octane
So, my race car is getting some love with a new head gasket. Something has crept into my mind. Am I using the right octane? The PO used pump gas with an octane booster and wanted to use 110 octane. I used VP110, but I am not sure if I getting the correct gas. I have been searching through the intern...

Re: Racing head gasket and studs
Thanks. What part number for the ARP studs do you think will work? I am not as familiar with the different ARP studs. Seems to be different part numbers for the 2.3L. I found these: https://www.amazon.com/ARP-151-4301-Head-cylinder-Boost/dp/B01MXILQ8P/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=arp+studs+151-4301&qid=1...

Racing head gasket and studs
So, I blew my first head gasket on my race car. I am wondering... What is the best head gasket and studs for track days/wannbe racing? I figured FELPRO and ARP studs, but does anyone have a particular part numbers for those? My car is making 331 hp with 22 lbs of boost. Thanks

Talk me down... Thinking full rewire and engine rebuild
So, I keep my 88 XR with my family while I work the majority of the year. This past weekend my XR lost coolant but nothing underneath. Start her up and white smoke. I replaced the head gasket about 3 years ago, but coolant is still getting in the engine. The head was magafluxed and was checked out a...

Re: Catch Can Question
The T inline with the valvecover and crankcase will work. Larger lines will be better here especially if your considering an open breather. I used one of those summit ones for about 3 months before the drain valve fell out the bottom. Not the best quality. One other item to consider with the open p...
