Re: Axle Replacement - Flange seal/gasket?

Thanks for that! NAPA carried the gaskets for just a couple bucks each. The axles came with grease packs but I will use something else, something synthetic. Replacement bolts are Empi from a local VW shop. Interesting note: The gaskets that came with the axles were just some crap fake cork... but t...

Re: Scorpio Master Cylinder & Pump into XR

I'm curious/wondering a few things about this unit. 1 - Has anyone found a sort of internal/cutaway diagram of the master cylinder of this piece showing what ports go where? I'm comparing this to a valve body drawing that shows the circuit for each oil passage. 2 - Is this part in the Scorpio manual...

Re: '84 SVO?

T45 didnt come out until the 96 and I think was, nah, probably 96 Mustang and Cobra. I was thinking only Cobra, but not sure why. Who knows...Easy enough to crawl under the car and check it out. Either way, if it runs and drives, its all fun and games from there. Work on it as he goes...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!

Yeah, I don't have the energy to even consider a Supra or 8.8 swap. Just not worth the cost and energy for what I'd get out of it. The Detroit diff is a great solution for a street driven car, and should do everything I want it to do handily. I am curious about doing one as well, it just isn't clea...

Re: 2.3L head flow data

Curious how old this Ron guy is? I knew of a guy name Ron that had an R&L shop, that was about 20 years ago though.
He older and grey? Heavy?

I ordered The Tool from MC2 to help take my spare diff apart, so I guess I'm going down that road.
You going to use the GM diff?

Re: '84 SVO?

The T5 used in the SVO had different gearing than most others, either V8 ones or the T-Bird. I believe 3.50 was first gear.
Unless they swapped something different in it, it would be a T5.

Re: T5 Clutch - Sachs?

I can't comment on the clutch, but, the flywheel.... In my days of tinkering with cars, it always seems that the aluminum flywheel is a good idea. Until you drive it in a parking lot or traffic. The mass of the stock steel flywheel is actually a benefit to help you get moving smoothly. If you're jus...

Re: New Scorpio. Thinking of a turbo

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. But, I'd have to wait until after mine gets smogged in 2020, which gives me a little time, and see what develops from this thread. Someone sent me a copy of the CARB ruling that you can add components before and after the motor as long as you're not touchi...

I've never seen a gasket there either, but I think it's really noteworthy that VW has a virtually identical driveshaft configuration and they think there should be one... I'm gonna roll with it!
agreed, the boots I bought to re-do my axles are also for VW's....

Re: Manual trans into auto xr

Looking good so far John. I really appreciate the updates and lots of pics, as I hope to do the same hopefully in the Spring. Good luck man! I agree, this is helpful...One thing I would do though, put that wrap around part back on the clutch pedal assembly. They're somewhat robust, but I've seen so...
